Service was wonderful, the woman was very friendly and fun to talk to. The price for two people is very very good. The tea room itself was very pretty and nice to be in, with nice classical music in the background. The tomato bisque I had was wonderful and I loved it. The sandwiches were fine, the cucumber was the best and the cranberry chicken salad was good, but I've had better pimento cheese as I used to live in the South. The mini quiches were surprisingly good with delicate crusts. We got one scone each and they were pumpkin chocolate chip. I do not care for chocolate chips in anything but cookies, and it made putting the cream and jam on them unnecessary because it did not help anything. I don't think strawberry jam goes with pumpkin and chocolate. I didn't like the scone at all and didn't finish, but other people might enjoy. The cream was made there but was not anything like normal clotted cream so I was disappointed in that. The sweets were ok. The macaron was fine, but I didn't enjoy the brownie bites. They were reminiscent of store bought with added Halloween stuff on top including strange gummy pumpkins I didn't care for. The sticky toffee pudding bite was very good. There was a nice selection of tea and was very good, I'm familiar with harney & sons so had no concern there. An important part of the tea experience for me is the scones and being able to have proper clotted cream, so I was disappointed in that. It's a long way to get to this tearoom as well so it's unlikely we'd return. We've had significantly better tea and food in Portland, but if you're in the Battleground area it's a perfectly fine...
Read moreWe took three girls here for their first tea experience and they were extremely well behaved. We were sat down and offered things other the tea for the girls. We got some lemonade. The lady who I think was newer brought out our tiered treats but was so quiet we heard absolutely nothing she said and she walked away quickly— we had no clue what we were eating. The atmosphere didn’t feel the most inviting. It would have been nice to choose what tea we were drinking instead of just being given a pot. Our biggest issue is one of the girls loves tea mixed with lemonade, it doesn’t matter what flavor and so she was drinking that the entire time and was having a lovely day. The owner came up to her mid pour and told her “no, no, no you don’t mix tea and lemonade. Trust me, you’ll get a sore tummy” she then when on to say other teas she seemed suitable to be mixed with lemonade but, that little girl had been drinking her tea and lemonade the whole morning. Once this was said she slowly put the lemonade down and didn’t drink tea or lemonade the rest of our time and her entire attitude changed and she was no longer enjoying herself. There were no longer any smiles. This one interaction no matter how much we told her otherwise, changed the entire mood and experience we had. I wouldn’t say that this is a good place for kids as the ladies running it definitely didn’t seem to be...
Read moreOverall, this was a lovely place to gather with friends for my birthday! Booking was easy over the phone. I can understand the owner not wanting to take separate payments and having folks pay in advance, but wish there was a way where guests could do that without it falling upon the guest of honor to coordinate and pay for those who had to cancel last minute due to having covid. It's not the business owner's responsibility, but also the onus shouldn't be on the birthday girl. Perhaps an exception can be made for special events with large parties that guests can call ahead to pre-pay.
Chantal was nice to work with and did return my initial call to confirm the reservation, but no other real communication until day of.
The food was good. We didn't get to select our tea and had to ask for refills, which was disappointing. I didn't get to try most of the desserts due to chatting with my party, but everyone seemed to enjoy them.
The restaurant and restrooms were very clean and inviting. It's also a safe, nice location next to the Battle Ground library. She also has some lovely tea things for purchase, but hours are limited.
Other than the hassle of large group payments, this is a lovely time. I'd recommend for small groups as our party of 13 were sat at 3 separate tables making me feel like I was neglecting 2/3...
