Parking: There was street parking on the south side of the park between two neighborhoods, under the huge power lines and on the North side, also on the street. Both parking places offer a paved bike trail to the park. You can not see the park from the South side.
Play Structure: This play area is tri-level. The highest level is a small round "dessert island" complete with palm trees, parascope, and opening to two slides, a shorter and a longer one. The second level has a sand box with a non-working fountain down the middle, most likely shut off for winter. It also has a pirate ship themed play structure appropriate for toddlers and older. The third level has a play structure appropriate for older children and has more equipment than the other play structure, including monkey bars. Both the second and third level has four swings, two baby swings and two regular swings.
I had difficulty supervising my kids when they were on different levels of the park, I couldn't see from one to the other level.
Bathrooms/ Water: There is a portopotty, but it was gross, and had no hand sanitizer. There is a drinking fountain, but it doesn't work. The water fountain wasn't working 5 years ago either, so bring your own water.
Additional info: There is a little creek running along side the park. I thought other parents might want to know that. This play ground would be difficult to get to and get around with a wheelchair. Though there is a picnic table that extends to accommodate...
Read moreA nice large park atop a hill on a trail that connects to much of hillsboro. The park consists of many slides, two separate swing structures, there is a pirate theme to the playground itself of course. There is a small structure better suited for younger children next to the sand box, and across the way down in the back there is a larger structure with more advanced features like climbing and monkey bars for older more advanced child play. There are plenty of teenage trees surrounding the park that give it nice picnic areas to set up a rest stop. There are also two picnic tables tucked under some trees that make a perfect place to stop and do projects or just rest from the heat of the sun. There is a small concrete path around the whole park and children can bring there scooters and circle and race if so inclined. There is no bathroom, only a large porta potty.. bummer. There is a drinking fountain, but when I was there with my family for some reason it was turned off. It made us all very sad because on our journey to reach the park we drank all our water, and was unable to replenish because the city had turned it off?! I hope that they soon trun it back on so that everyone who comes can have access to water...
Read moreWhen we go to parks, we go to get out of the city setting, and away from huge crowds. We love the playgrounds with wooded areas, and trails that have quiet spaces here and there to enjoy the feeling of being out in nature. So this review is souly based for those like my family. I do not recommend this park. It is right in the middle of a huge housing development with powerlines and an extremely busy park. This park looked like an ant hill! Even if my son did decide to play, I would not even know where I would be able to put him to play without being trampled. It was ridiculous! Laughable, really. So we decided to walk the trail a bit and give it a chance in case it was not busy during a rainy day.. but as we were walking, I just felt like I was in California. All the congestion around the place made it hard to relax.. who can walk and be under power lines, and feel good about where you are?! So we left this place fast! I give it a yada, yada (Not worth...
