What a beautiful place along the Bellingham Bay. The city has put a lot of thought into the park, and it's so serene with all the amenities. There is Woods coffee shop which overlooks the Bay. Sunsets are just perfect to watch. You can walk the boardwalk and continue to either Bellingham downtown or FairHaven, which is another small town that has remnants of the trolleys that used to run on the roads. I visited the park to take a walk and I immediately fell in love with the location. Being a train enthusiast, the railway track just a few steps away from the boardwalk was nostalgic as you can spot the freight trains. The train tracks have just a drop over gate and have the typical lights and sound when the train is about to cross. There is a good amount of play area, and people from all walks of life can be seen just taking in the views and sounds of the waves crashing into the shores. You can also spot occasional planes making the final descent to the Bellingham Airport. Must see place...
Read moreYes, a must experience destination while spending time in the Bellingham area. Five minute walk from historic and super fun Fairhaven downtown district. The boardwalk stretches out over Bellingham Bay. Well constructed and wheelchair friendly. All kinds of watercraft and views of islands and birds. People fishing, swimming , walking and enjoying the sights and sun. At the end of the boardwalk is a large grassy park area with shade trees. We bought West Coast berry ice pops from a local vendor. They are delicious and made fresh in Bellingham. I had blackberry ginger, that's the vendors favorite. There are many free parking spots available, but you may have to search a bit for one, this is a popular place, but since it is also large you will not...
Read moreThe Boardwalk is always a great place for an outing right on the edge of Bellingham Bay. Starts in Fairhaven and continues toward downtown Bellingham with a Woods Coffee ☕ along the way. Fairhaven is a wonderful little community with shops and resteraunts. Woods puts out a great coffee and is hangout for students at WWU. Parking can be difficult particularly in nice weather, cruise the streets for a while and you will probably find a spot.
Ok, update - a couple of years ago the Fairhaven town father's and mother's decided it was too good a deal with free parking so now we get to pay to park. Still worth a visit despite the presence of...
