I had a lot of fun here on 4th of July. Very strong sense of community here which you can’t really put a price on these days. Fellow beach goers let us borrow their spatula as we had come unprepared, and we played volleyball with a bunch of strangers and had a great time! Go early if you want some space in the pavilions, although there are plenty of grills available with some tree cover that work just fine. The lake is on the smaller side and swimming was fairly cramped, although I’m certain it’d be less of an issue if it weren’t a holiday. They have a small diving board in the middle and a water slide in the back, although the slide wasn’t in use at the time (from what I understand it’s been shutdown since the pandemic). There is a little bar and food station in a pavilion; this area is not BYOB and security on site actively monitors the area for people smuggling alcohol from outside. Just as a fair warning, they will confiscate your alcohol if they catch you. The price to get in is fairly steep, and they do not allow reentry, which is why I decided to give it four stars. I can spend less money and go on a day trip to the shore! Ultimately our holiday was rained out but still a great time nonetheless. Oh and apparently you can book the lake 8 pm to 12 am for a private catered event. Sounds pretty...
Read moreI’m leaving one star because Google review does not allow you to leave zero stars. On Aug 28th my nonprofit organization took our clients out for an event at Bellmawr Lake, and were greeted with nothing but racism, nasty attitude, and not the service what we paid for. We paid almost $2000 for catering and dessert and expected a certain type of service from the staff as this wasn’t our first time going. However, the staff was extremely racist, they refused to let our clients help themselves to the food we paid for. When it came to the catering and dessert they gave us hard time after hard time. Also, the Bar staff was very problematic, attempted to start an argument with for no reason and refused to answer any questions when we were confused about our catering.
Overall MARY, who was supposed to be in charge, provided nothing but racism and attitude throughout our entire stay at the lake. Safe to say this is something we will no longer be doing even though it is a tradition we have been holding for the past five years. It’s very sad that racism can be the reason why people within a community cannot enjoy the things that are in their community for them to enjoy.
Also the chicken was pink and not cooked throughly. I would...
Read moreI was looking for the ultimate summer experience, water, sand, bbq, games and a chill atmosphere. My partner and i where in need of a water based getaway that did not involve 4 hours of shore traffic. Lake belmawr provided.
The whole facility is like a time capsule to the late 70s but it was clean and tidy despite its years of service.
Prices for food and drinks where really affordable. pitchers of beer where $7.00 after you return the pitcher for your $4 deposit. Sandwiches and snacks prices where way better than most concession stands $5.50 for a sandwich is almost unheard of in Philly.
If i had to offer up any real criticism i would suggest that they upgrade to non commercial radio on the loudspeakers. The commercials on the country radio station where pretty relentless. Who wants to be pummeled with ads for daycare, private schools, tax resolution and school supply drives while your trying to unwind on a showstring budget? There are plenty of free/ low cost music options that would provide a non commercial Listening experience that can be diverse and interesting while remaining family friendly. Overall i cant wait to go back-...
