Sadly this is a missed opportunity for something grand. The movie was good but needs cleaning up or digitally enhanced so you can see and hear clearer. Its a nice theater, library is nice, the gift store has a lot of stuff you can't find even on amazon. HOWEVER, the tour was a bust. Our guy made us stand in the home in one spot while he retold the entire movie we had just watched, gave us a quick peak into rooms then sent us on our way. We were never told to explore the cottages and we assumed they were not open to public. We definitely didn't get our moneys worth. Oh and beware..they won't accept Viator or Trip advisor tickets! The ticket lady didn't even bother to give us the map brochure when we got out tickets so we were just told where to go by mouth. Definitely needs a new guide. We dont care about your travels, paranormal interests, kilt wearing celtic festivals, and personal...

I visited with my family in July 2023 and it was one of the most pleasant experiences this whole year. The staff at the front desk were polite and friendly and directed me to the house where we sat a few minutes on rocking chairs. Then another family came up and an old women came. In my ignorance I’d assume she might not be too bright hiven all the other tour-guides weren’t but was a very intelligent woman and excellent tour-guide she knew everything about the house and had an endless wealth of interesting information about the house, it’s items and the time period she was also excellent story-teller through Jefferson Davis’s life. The grounds were beautiful and as an Englishman visiting this area I was shocked at how friendly everybody here was. Overall I would highly recommend and I’ve never given a review to any place besides this one and made a mental note to do so...

The Beauvoir House and “Presidential Library” of Jefferson Davis are a lackluster exhibit of checkered history. While we may have had a unique experience, our tour guide provided nearly no insight into the house and its construction, except for politely white-washing that it was built with slave labor (which is expected for the era and location, but should be noted when discussed). The half an hour we spent in the house was mostly painful as we received mostly anecdotal stories about the owners of the property. As for the museum and “Presidential Library” of Jefferson Davis, it was fine. Some pretty interesting history included and some neat artifacts, but nothing notable or exceptionally unique. Worth a short walk around, but that’s about it. Overall, not really worth the stop and not worth $12 a person. A more educated presentation and detailed tour would be appreciated.

Harvest Host stay Thursday March 23, 2023. Great facilities / Easy Access / Great Parking Spots. Look to your right for the “blue” camper sign “east side” as you pull in the driveway. Check in at the giftshop to get the window display, then pick your parking spot. We’re a 5th wheel 1-ton combo, 60” long and 13’5” high, parking was easy. Watch for tree branches when maneuvering. We dry camped, but they offer hookups for a fee, let them know in your stay request if you need hookups. The grounds and facilities are neat and clean with lots of nice parking spots. The beach is right across the road from Beauvoir, we walked out on the fishing pier for some great photos and watched the sunrise & sunset. I recommend you tour the buildings and grounds, very interesting 200-year history, another hidden gem.

Price of admission for adults $13. Fair price to pay for a few hours to step back in time. The museum was full of great artifacts and information. The house itself was magnificent. The fact that you have this piece of history you can touch, feel, and experience is amazing. Our tour guide was funny and very knowledgeable, you could tell she took pride in telling the story of Beavoir. The property is beautiful. I enjoyed just taken in the scenery. My only advice is if you are visiting in the Summer bring a bottle of water with you. Thank you to everyone involved in keeping Beauvoir alive. GO VISIT! You won’t regret it.
