The owner ruined our experience at Willow winery. She was extremely passive aggressive to us, other customers, and her staff.
We made a reservation over a month in advance knowing we were visiting at a busy time of year. Upon arrival, she suggested we order bottles of wine. My group had a variety of wine preferences, so we opted to order glasses and flights instead. Upon hearing we were not taking her recommendation, the owner spoke to us in a rude manner stating we should take her suggestion since they don’t have enough clean glasses (for 5 people drinking) and it would take too long for them to serve us. Why offer flights and glasses of wine on the menu if you’re going to get mad when customers order it????
Next, we overheard the owner kicking other customers out of the facility. They were finishing up their wine and she told them they needed to leave so she can seat new people. Her tone was extremely rude! After the group left, nobody else sat down for the next hour so she kicked them out for no reason!
We asked the server for recommendations and the owner butted in, not letting the server answer. We had intentionally asked the server for a reason, not her!
Lastly, we had finished our wine and had been waiting around for a staff member to request the check. We had been waiting for around 10 minutes, and had only been seated for about an hour. When the owner finally came back around, she immediately told us we need to pay and leave so she could seat another group. Her tone and words felt ridiculous! We were already planning to head out and had only been seated for an hour!
Overall, the patio was beautiful but the owner was AWFUL and ruined our experience. Would not recommend this winery to anybody. There are tons of other options on the peninsula that offer much...
Read moreThis used to be our favorite winery up north for the views and quaint, small vibe. Unfortunately with the new owner Tracie this experience felt very unrelaxed and tense. Staff was highly micromanaged and treated in a passive aggressive manner by Tracie which made OUR experience there uncomfortable. Understandable to want an elevated experience for guests but continuously barking simple demands to staff from across the room (like taking photos that guests didn’t even ask for or repeatedly saying “CHIPS” until a staff member hears and runs them over to a couple who just sat down) actually made the guest experience awkward and forced.
I was about to go out to the patio and Tracie ran over in front of me as I was reaching for the door handle and said “we NEVER let our guests lift a finger” as she opened the door. If this is the service you enjoy then I recommend this place, but I prefer to casually meander around with my wine. Side note: you can’t walk in the vineyards at all. And you can’t go to the patio unless you get a bottle or a glass. I almost felt like I couldn’t get up from where I was sat.
Was very sad to see this charming, relaxing, small, cottage like winery turn into a tense/awkward/rushed, commercialized winery with a seemingly poor work environment.
The experience would be much improved if Tracie trusted her servers and let them...
Read moreI've been to my share of wineries and Willow was definitely the most fun I've had!. The wine was great- particularly the Pinot Grigio (took that one home) and the Chardonnay (enjoyed on site). I loved the little touches like and cordial glasses for tasting and the curated decor. Tracy and her team are fantastic! Sampling their line, hearing their stories, and enjoying their space, with the awesome view definitely make for a great way to spend some time if you are in the area. We also really appreciated her greeting our minor kids and, recognizing they probably don't love being dragged to wineries, she provided them a snack and a space to hang out while we enjoyed our wine. Without prompting, they declared it their favorite winery ever:) Thanks for the experience Tracy and look forward to visiting again next time we are...
