Perched just a minute's drive off of Charger Highway, Chimney Rocks park is a really lovely place for some relaxation and views of historic Hollidaysburg. With easy-to-reach panoramic vistas that are handicapped and stroller accessible, as well as more challenging trails up to the Chimney Rocks for the adventurous, there is something for everyone. The park is open dawn until dusk and is freely accessible. There are two parking lots, and the lower lot has plenty of parking. There is also a surprisingly clean comfort station in the upper parking lot. There is pavilion and a playground at the park level, as well as a nice walking path. This is a really nice park to spend an afternoon, and offers some respite from the nearby urban environments of Hollidaysburg, Duncansville,...

One of our favorite places for a picnic or a quick hike.

The trail has some steep grades in places, and forms a loop. If you travel counterclockwise from the parking lot, the trail is well maintained and will take you to the scenic overlook at the top near the namesake Chimney Rocks geological feature. There are also some picnic tables and benches up there. The other half of the loop is an unmaintained trail that can be a real scramble, depending on the season.

There is a large field adjacent to the parking area that features several benches, covered picnic tables, a park restroom, and a lower scenic overlook. There is a flat, paved loop trail around the field that many people stroll or...

Hiking, scenic, relaxing all mixed together... when I'm in need of space to think, I go here and take the lower trail access at the low overlook to the top overlook. It's gorgeous here especially in Autumn. Great for a family hike or a solo stroll. There's also a jungle gym for the kiddos, benches, picnic tables, and a pavilion. During the colder months they lock up the public restrooms for some reason... only downfall I have to say about this place. My favorite spot is the Indians Chair at the top lookout. Nice place to sit on the edge and...

We stopped by to see what this place was about. It isn't a very big park, but it did have a play area, picnic tables and a walking path. I am guessing it got its name from the chimney feature tucked in the hill. The rock formation is very unique and there is a path to climb to the top. Not a safe path, so make sure you take it easy. What was the best part was the overlook showing Hollidaysburg. You can see the entire town from there. For a nice secluded park, it wasn't bad. A great place to get away from it for a while, but very limited parking.

We decided to visit on a whim while driving past the entrance, and we're so glad we did! The park is small and quiet, nestled on a ridge with large cliffs on one side. The grounds are flat and easily accessible by wheelchair. There are some picnic tables and a short walking track around the edge of the park. The best part, by far, is the breathtaking viewpoint at the far end of the park. There is a viewpoint area with benches. It's a fantastic spot for photographs!
