This review is about the pumpkin patch train
We booked tickets after checking out a few train rides and it seemed very nice, so I thought.
It was my 1 year old daughters first train ride and with fall foliage and also going to a pumpkin patch, what more could you ask for? Well quite a bit actually.
The train was nice, seats were comfy, though when pushed back so you could face your family between seats it was very snug.
I read it as an hour long train ride, which I was wrong about. The whole thing total being the ride out, pumpkin patch, and back was roughly an hour.
I figured maybe we would see a good bit of at least woods to see the nice tree colors changing.. yeah, no. It was a lot of run down housing and shacks, and just other houses along the way. Very few spots was it actually woods, so there's that.
The pumpkin patch area was so-so and with the weather it was pretty much nothing but mud. The little area they had was probably the nicest of the whole thing. Pumpkins were just little guys, but I didn't expect 50 pounders for the price and the ride back. You got 25 minutes to try to do everything you could before you had to get back on the train, which with 100+ other people it's pretty rushed, then back on the train for a 15 minute ride back.
If you live close by, for sure stop in and check it out. If not, just wait until you're possibly in the area or go elsewhere.
The cookies were good or well my daughter...
Read moreWas an ok ride. If you want to see the fall colors your to late. They only did 1 fall foliage ride and that was before the leafs were changing. They do every weekend in Oct but it's there pumpkin patch ride for all the kids to pick a pumpkin right from the field. They stopped for 15 minutes on way back but theres nothing to get off and see or do. Would have been a bit better if the had someone talking to let you know any info of the area. You got to see all the junk behind a lot of the houses that the tracks run behind. There some trees but not like your in a forest. Cross over many roads and see a lot of the same people videoing the train. They must chase to catch every crossing. Wanted to take a picture of the engine when we got off the train but it unhooked and was gone by the time we got off the train. Went into the station to a post card. A bit pricey at $1.50 for 1 card. Was quit crowded from everyone trying to buy shirts and water. A train ride I...
Read moreThis was a cute little idea for Autumn/Halloween for the kids. Mildly pricey for the experience overall but unique. There are a few things I wish I would have known before hand that may have made me rethink this and maybe rather spend a day at the pumpkin patches around the area. 1st its advertised as " the views of fall foliage" I don't know if anyone else had an issue with the "views" on the ride.. it was mostly suburban back yards with trampolines and abandoned junk. 2nd, The pumpkin patch itself that you arrive to was cute but mildly disappointing the pumpkins you get with the ride are very small, and there's no option to buy larger ones. You get 20 minutes to run around in the mud and get pumpkin before you travel back to the station. The cool part I suppose if you have kids that love trains is getting pictures when the train is stopped. It was a one and done experience for us..unique but not a thing to do year after...
