Wow. What a horrible experience. I have been coming here for YEARS and I have never had an issue here until today…obviously due to new staffing. The front desk lady, Dawn, needs to be fired immediately. I came here with my friends to watch a movie and I had already purchased the tickets online. I was ID checked…which has never happened before…to see a horror movie. I totally understand ID checking…no problem there…I had my ID but my friends did not have them on them so we had an adult come ALL THE WAY down to the theater. Everything worked out and we went into the theater but THEN we came up to grab popcorn and she proceeded to harass us and tell us we couldn’t buy popcorn when said adult had an emergency they had to attend to. So we waited out in the cold for ANOTHER adult to show up so we could BUY from THEIR theater. Another adult came in and dawn proceeded to be disrespectful and make a rude comment by saying “well I know you’re for sure old.” This ladies attitude is horrendous and given the other reviews…I’m not the only one who thinks this. This is the first review i’ve ever written in my entire life and it’s because this is just absurd and has pushed me to my limit. The movie was amazing. This lady was not. The police officer on duty is one of the best officers I have ever met. Very respectful, understanding and communicated in an appropriate and understanding tone without having any snarky remarks. I’m pleased to say the police officers in Blono are so respectful and good at their job. He deserves a lot better than to work with people like dawn. I’m sure he’s had to deal with worse issues than forgetting an ID or entry issues. The young man working concessions was so polite and kind and very efficient for being one of two concession workers on a busy night he deserves a RAISE and so does the officer. The young man who scanned our QR code was so incredibly kind and he was so understanding even when he had to scan it for the SECOND time after we stood out in the cold and felt so sympathetic towards us. I understand following your policy but being completely disrespectful and rude to multiple adults is just uncalled for and makes everyone’s lives harder. Dawn decided to take the time out of her day to personally harass us over an issue where let’s be honest does not affect her nor us in any way shape or form where CHILDREN could watch these movies at home. Regardless these are ADULTS in question that Dawn had no right to direct us like that. That officer and those two young men who we spoke with today are the ONLY reason we MIGHT be coming back…that is if management looks at these reviews that say the same thing…that you need to invest in a new front desk...
Read moreThis was my first time back to the Bloomington IL location since the new ownership, I have to say I wasn't overly impressed. First, I know they have no control over what Google post about their movie times, but as I stood in line I overheard 3 others have the same issues as I did... the movie times posted on Google were not the movie times listed when we got there. From our phones we thought we were on Wehrenberg Theater's website as Google shows the link to be the correct website. The truth is it was still Google's times. Now what Google had posted is what time the movie actually started without the previews, the times the theatre posts in the box office are the times the previews started. I guess if you are not worried about seating, go by what time Google has listed. The young lady in the box office was only doing her job, and I am sure she has to go over this daily multiple times but I don't need to be talked down to, and that was the tone she was getring with us. I understand you have no control over what Google posts but Fandago had the same times listed as Google. This issue in itself was not the reason for my 3 star rating. The concession staff is not very efficient nor were they listening. I watch the lady in front of me tell them more than once butter on the kid's popcorn and they still gave it to her without. He was helpful with me though so maybe he is new, but most movie goers want to get their snacks and get to their movie and you need a well trained staff for that. Once in the theatre my foot stuck to the floor in front of my seat. Yes I could have moved but I sat there for a reason. I frequent another Bloomington theatre and am not disappointed there. Yes food is more expensive there, but for the most part it is better too... the floors have always been clean when I have been there. Maybe I have been "spoiled " by the other theatre but I like it and the people much better. I know this post might sound pety, but I feel my experience today was not a good one, it was mediocre at best. Saving grace for Wehrenberg is that today was $5 movies and I got a free popcorn so I don't feel like I am out a lot... but my medium drink (slushy) was 3 times what the same drink would cost me at a fast food restaurant or a C-store, that is...
Read moreBeen coming to this theater for three years as a college student new to the area I enjoyed it more then the competitors in the area. That being said tonight I had a less favorable experience with a particular employee Pam I was told her name by a fellow employee as when I went to ask her she was already gone. I came on Monday November 18th at 5:55pm to see the movie Heretic. As a horror movie lover I have enjoyed a many here with no problems. As I entered today however and presented my ticket to Pam I was asked for my ID as well as my Boyfriends. This being a shock as we have never been ID for a movie at this establishment. I do understand some places have age restrictions after a late times to prevent children from being out past curfew without an adult. My boyfriend left his wallet in the car and I didn’t think to bring mine as I didn’t drive. My boyfriend went back to the car in the rain to grab his but I had found a picture of mine instead. I showed her mine and she still processed to ask for my boyfriends as well. As a teen I experienced this when I went to see movies with older siblings and they only asked to see ONE ID not all. After getting out tickets she then decided it was the right time to say I can’t bring in my water bottle which is understandable but could’ve been told to us the first time he went back to the car inconveniencing us even more. After this incident we went to the theater and barely made it on time. My boyfriend decided a few minutes in he wanted a drink as we couldn’t bring in our water and went back to the car to get the card he left. On the way back in Pam asked to see his ticket again even though we were just there. This entire experience with her left me with feeling as this was intentional to us as she didn’t do this to the others that came and went as we were up front. We felt targeted to us as we are aware the area is predominately white and we are both visibly mixed people. This behavior is unacceptable as the other employees have never treated me and my boyfriend this way in the past three years of...
