Beware if you are placing an online order. There was a glitch in the online ordering system, which is perfectly understandable. However, I was appalled by the server's reaction and response to the glitch. I had placed an online order, made the payment, and received an email confirmation for the order, but would not have received any food at all if it weren't for a super helpful server at the OTHER Eric's (at 903 W Wood St, Bloomington, IL 61701).
If anyone is interested in the full story: I placed an online order at Eric's Too restaurant, but there was a glitch in the system and the confirmation receipt I got showed me the address for the other Eric's Restaurant. I went there and found out that my order was not received at either of the branches. The server there offered to prepare my order anyway, but could not because 1 of the items was available only at Eric's Too. So, she called them and asked them to prepare the order for me. She also took a picture of my order and sent it to them, and told me I could go there and pick it up.
When I arrived at Eric's Too, first off, there was no one to greet the customers coming in. After a couple of minutes, I walked in to look for people and found a server. I told her what happened and her response was, "I don't have any orders. I have a business to run. I'm busy". I told her the server from the other restaurant called somebody at Eric's Too in front of me and her response was "I'm busy". I told her the other server sent someone here a picture of my order via text and again, her response was "I wasn't looking at my phone. I'm busy". It didn't occur to her to ask anyone else on the team if they had received any calls until I said I would call the other restaurant and ask her for the name of the employee she spoke too.
Turns out, one of the cooks had received my order and was making it. The food was not bad, but thanks to the horrible attitude of the server, I wont be recommending this place to anyone. It's clear that she was trying to say "Go away, I'm busy" but that is not how you treat a customer that has already paid for their food. Also, when I went, only 1 table in the restaurant was occupied, she kept saying there are no online orders, and no one other than me was waiting for a pickup. In such a scenario, it was really hard to believe that she is busy. It's obvious that the owners need to step up whatever form of customer service training...
Read moreI attended this restaurant on September 12th with a few of my colleagues, since it was literally right next to our hotel. It seemed like a nice place, we were greeted coming in the door, and we took a seat at the bar.
The menu had quite the variety: American, Italian, and Mexican cuisine items, and they offered stir-fry. I elected for a Gyro Platter, while two of my colleagues ordered the stir fry, and the fourth ordered a burger/sandwich.
My food came out 10 minutes before anyone else's, so I was nearly finished when one stir-fry came out. There was no noodles nor rice, which stir-fry generally has as a bed, so it was returned to the kitchen. 5 minutes later, all the food our group ordered came from the kitchen
The problem then became, there was now ham and bacon in the stir-fry. This drew the ire of my compatriot, and he refused the dish. When the inconsistencies were brought to the manager's attention, he comped my buddy $2 for the meal. That really upset the rest of my group, for they got their bills, paid cash, and left the establishment immediately. They didn't even finish their drinks. I on the other hand was paying with a card, so I maintained a cordial demeanor.
At this point, the staff felt bad concerning the outcome, but it got worse for me. Eric's Too ended up double charging my card, and not even the same amount, two vastly different quantities. I didn't notice until doing my expense report that weekend. I called the restaurant the following Monday, talked to a manager about the issue, and he was fairly dismissive, trying to shift the blame on me. He took my information, promised to follow-up, and never did. My bank is disputing the charge on my behalf at this point.
You could try Eric's Too if you want to see what it's all about, but I want you to know there's a Steak and Shake right down the road that has milkshakes, will get your order right, and charge you...
Read moreHad a wonderful experience & wonderful food! We are traveling & stopped in Bloomington for the night. It's cold so wanted to order food, pick it up and get to hotel asap. I called ahead & spoke to Eric. He took my order & asked when we wanted it, he told me they would get right on it, but forewarned that there were a few people ahead of me. I appreciate that. We were only minutes away so it was not quite ready when I arrived. Eric talked to me and was very friendly. Although we did not eat in, there were plenty of customers in the dining area & the place was clean & seemed new. Once I sat down in our hotel to eat I was very pleased. I'm from the gulf coast and am very picky about my shrimp. I ordered the shrimp fajita & asked to hold the jalapeños. There was plenty of 2- bite sized shrimp in the dish, cooked to perfection, all fresh vegetables sautéed, rice and refried beans. All of it delicious & reasonably priced. The menu also surprised me as it is so varied. (My friend had a great Cobb salad). I hate to leave this restaurant behind us! I hope the locals will appreciate and support them during these tough financial times. Back home we have lost so many of our best restaurants. Eric's is also right off the interstate near several hotels. I encourage travelers & locals to give this place a try. It's not a chain, and has a personal touch. Hard to...
