Was in the area for a bike ride and dropped by Davenport to checkout this calaboose. Museum was closed, but there was a plaque on the front of the building that provides some history of the jail. Cool piece of local history and you should drop by because it is right off the highway. You may also want to see other places in the area such as the Davenport Catholic church around the corner from the jail, sections of the abandoned railroad along the coast and the old buildings of Wilder Ranch a few miles south of Davenport.

Adorable little quick-stop to add to any itinerary. Cute little building hidden behind a much larger building, but still easily visible & accessible from the street. An history amuse-bouche.

Built in 1914 and set in the old whaling village of Davenport, interestingly the two cells jail was used only once.

Only open a few hours on Saturday! If you're looking for a unique and educational experience, the Davenport Jail Museum is a must-visit. This small but fascinating museum is housed in a historic two-room jail built in 1914. As you step through the doors, you're transported back in time to a simpler era. The museum offers a glimpse into the lives of those who were incarcerated in the jail, with exhibits showcasing the original cells, booking desk, and other artifacts. The knowledgeable staff is passionate about local history and can provide interesting insights into the jail's past. While the museum is small, it's packed with information and is a great place to learn about the history of Davenport and the surrounding area. If you're a history buff or simply looking for something different to do, I highly recommend visiting the Davenport...

While walking around Davenport, everyone should take a few minutes to visit the Davenport Jail. There really is not much to see here. However, it is very worth a stop because the the Davenport Jail is a national historic site. The jail building is small and cute, but I doubt its inmates appreciated...
