Davenport Pier is a beautiful, scenic beach but it suffers from being a little tough to access. The view from the sea cliff is great, and the iconic cement pillars in the waves are visible from up there. The hard part is getting down to the beach. There is a very steep and slippery trail that is the only way up or down, and on crowded days there can be a slow creeping trail of people backing it up, both trying to go up and down at the same time. It can get frustrating because of that. Also, this beach seems to have more trash on it than others, mostly empty bottles left behind by those that are too uncoordinated to carry their garbage back up. The ultimate Instagram photo op exists at the swing perched at the stone arch right along the center shore, but again if it's a crowded day there can be a long line to take your turn on it and waiting in line at the beach is just kinda lame. The cliffs are covered in beautiful graffiti that adds to the concrete grungy-ness of the beach, including an amazingly painted tunnel that looks like a big open maw. Off to the either side of the beach there are some nice little alcoves or natural stone terraces to chill with some friends at, but remember not to get too get drunk if you to happen to be imbibing because you still have to...
Read moreI had higher expectations based on what I've heard of it, but overall it's a very calm spot. I was lucky to not find a lot of ppl. It was just a shame the swing had only one rope, seems like the other one ripped off or something. Yet, it was still enjoyable, just hanging from one side. The sunset was really nice. The tricky part is getting down there, it's a steep hill with rocks but there is a rope for some support. So you have to be very careful going down. I would recommend to wear shoes that have a good grip so you don't slip going down or even climbing down. There is also a small like waterfall, but i didn't go check it out. And for those who plan to have a picnic or bonfire, just please pick up after yourself, don't leave your trash behind! It is a nice simple spot to enjoy. There is a spot for parking...
Read moreNobody mentions any warning about the way down for some reason. It's a nice area with beautiful views of the oceans and the cliffs that surround you. Relatively secluded area considering most people are not willing to make the descent. The sand is a little coarse compared to other beaches in the near area such as Santa Cruz beaches. There are very delicious restaurants found in Davenport with cozy settings. You can grab some food and take it with you to watch the sunsets. Some dirty people don't deserve the right to enjoy this place as they are apparently able to go down with the full weight of their 12 packs, but all of a sudden cannot climb up with empty cans and decide to leave their trash there. The swing was intact when we arrived but someone broke it minutes later. It seems it gets repaired quite...
