I was on the hunt for apple cider jam that Trader Joe’s in their wisdom chose to discontinue and I stumbled across this website, Amish Country Store. I found something that will suffice for my bread baking, which is their apple pie jam. Well, I just received my order today and immediately opened the jam and found it to be just delicious! It has bits of apple in it, which is what the apple cider jam had. I also bought other jams and preserves for my bread making, along with a bottle of blueberry balsamic vinaigrette, and Cajun Power Sweet Treat, which contains cinnamon sugar and pure vanilla.
Their product prices were quite reasonable, which was one of the deciding factors in determining if I would purchase from them. Other factors included that Better Business Bureau did not have any complaints against them, and that I could pay with PayPal.
The S&H was very reasonable and if it were not, I would have not purchased from them. The packing materials used inside the shipping box were top notch in keeping the glass containers from breaking!
I called the company to inquire why my order had not shipped and they told me that one of the items I purchased was not in stock, but they expected to receive it soon. I gave them permission to hold my order until that item was back in stock, as I was not in a hurry to receive my order. After an additional week of waiting, Ashley called to say that the item was no longer available and that I would receive a refund for that item.
The only complaint I have regarding their website is that I wished that they would have given pictures of the product’s ingredients. I have many food restrictions, so I need that information. I was able to find some of that information on other websites, but not all.
Will I buy from them...
Read moreI love the idea of the store. I also appreciate the variety of salsa, jams, pickled items, etc. My family (my parents included) does not love the customer service nor the general attitude of the management. They are not welcoming nor are they gracious. I understand that $ can be lost due to customer neglect/accidents but demanding customers pay for small candy sticks (if broken accidently) is just too much. If the breakage issue prevents any profit from the sale of the candy, simply stop carrying that product. Multiple signs around the store remind you of the owners lack of grace and reiterate their complete lack of customer appreciation/trust.
I also agree with another reviewers comment..."they predominately sell all pre-packaged food – and NONE of the pre-packaged food contains a nutrition facts label on the container. It also doesn’t have expiration dates or “best by” dates on the pre-packaged food.
Some of the food items are candy such as Good & Plenty and Circus Peanuts which they have removed from the original manufacturer packaging and have placed in bulk containers – again without nutrition facts/expiration dates or “best by” dates on the packages."
And final word...the packaged items are not sealed to protect customers. It's very much a gamble to purchase the "bulk food" products! Especially since the management does not keep an eye on the aisles with...
Read moreI really wish they would drop the Amish part off their name. There is nothing about this store that is Amish. I dare say that they aren't even Mennonite or Hutterite (sp?). However, if you're looking to buy reasonably priced spices this is your place. Other items offered, range from reasonably priced to way over priced depending on the item. So you pretty much need to have a good idea of general prices around your area for the items you want to buy. Herbs and spices, teas, etc are usually pretty good deals. Not so much on dried fruits and veggies. They have a good assortment of jams, jellies, pickled items etc. The. Prices are ok on. If you're looking for sorghum, you can find it here. Coconut oil is pretty reasonable as well. They have some canning items such as packaged mixes, but their canning section is far from extensive...but then again, they tend to cater to tourists rather than locals. I don't see tourists buying too many canning supplies. The store does have a small section of seeds. Not a huge selection but I believe the seeds are organic, non GMO, and heirloom varieties. The staff is always friendly, and helpful. The store is always clean and...
