Our group did The Zeros, one of the 90-minute escapes. We were a larger group (14 in total, their website says the room is for groups of "3-16") and were able to escape successfully.
The pros: The puzzles were easily the biggest highlight. While most of the puzzles boiled down to "find the combination for this lock," the methods for finding each combination were unique, fun, and fit their settings surprisingly well. While we did end up having to use a hint, none of the puzzles ever felt "too challenging" for us to solve The plot and theming was impressive as well. While cheesy in some places, and somewhat confusing in others, it did a good job of immersing you into the story and the world of the room, while using the puzzles to help build out the world of the game.
The cons: While our room was quite large, the puzzles were incredibly linear. This probably wouldn't be as big of an issue with a smaller group, but for our group, there were several times when lots of us would be standing around waiting for one or two of us to unlock something or write something down. This was compounded by one other issue: The Zeros takes place in "an abandoned shopping center." Many of the "stores" in this room were quite small, with puzzles that were very much stuck in those rooms. When combined with the very linear puzzle structure, those moments of waiting for one person to unlock or write something down frequently happened in relatively small spaces, creating both a bottleneck in terms of puzzles and literal space for people to move around.
The neutrals: While I don't want to spoil anything for people planning on doing this room in the future, when it came to the options provided, yelling usually worked the best. I was also surprised there wasn't quite a "photo op" offered to our group after we finished the room, but I definitely enjoyed our way of showing that we beat the room.
Overall, the experience was one that our entire group enjoyed. While it may not have been perfect, it was one of the best escape rooms I've done personally, and I hope to come back and try another room of theirs in the future (hopefully with a slightly...
Read moreWhile on vacation in Branson with extended family, whom we don't get to see a lot, we chose as a group to do an escape room for our evening activity. We had only one night there to be with them. Escape Code turned out to be a perfect activity as it allowed us to interact with one another more than attending a show. Only one of us had done an escape room before. The Escape Code staff were great! The challenge was perfect. We had chosen to do "Condemned". But they have about about five game scenarios to choose from and a good variety of start times as well. With open hours well into the evening, there was a lot of flexibility to assist with accommodating some of our busy schedules. Also, their scenarios allow for a variety of experience levels, providing options for groups with children through elderly members. Finally, there were several things going on in each room to keep all of us busy. We especially liked that with the six of us, we were able to be our own group. And what's more... We really rocked it, finishing in just under 50 minutes. The time limit is 1 hour and the best time for that room was a little more than 43 minutes. And having used just one of four clues, we made their leader board! Woohoo! We all agreed we will definitely do this again. And if in Branson when we do, we will definitely try...
Read moreWent off best Google reviews in Branson. Ended up choosing Escape Code. Game Master/Front desk attendant was so nice and brought so much energy the moment we walked inside their building. We did: The Journey through Elek’s Hollow. We honestly couldn’t have been more happy with our choice and enjoyed every bit of it. It wasn’t too hard but was every bit challenging and very doable with just a couple hints along the way! Without giving anything away, this room has magnetic locks (which speaks to the caliber of an escape room, IMO) and it’s an escape room that keeps on giving. If we could do it again, we would! We also did: The Guest House right afterwards and it was a little more simple, not quite as many puzzles as Elek’s, but we very much enjoyed it as well and would definitely recommend it to anyone, especially if you’re not advanced like us. There were only 2 of us and we solved both puzzles with maybe 2 hints each, along the way. Can’t wait to get back to Branson and try one of their 90-minute rooms because apparently they have even...
