Update 10/3/25: we came back excited that it would be fixed and it is not. Immediately all the hair stands up from the static charge and my 4 year old cried when she got shocked by the playground. Same thing up at the spiderweb. We promptly left.

We were excited to check out the new playground. Unfortunately our time was cut super short and we couldn’t enjoy the playground. From the moment you step on the fake grass our hair stood up and we got shocked incessantly. Everyone. Kids and adults. The second we stepped off the grass onto the asphalt our hair went back down to normal. I don’t know if they need a rubber ground, or grounding poles to discharge some of that electricity, but we could not play without getting shocked. It was the same at the swings and on the spider web- anywhere that fake turf was. It’s 85°+ with over 50% humidity today in August- so not a dryness issue. Seems like the constant shocking is a design flaw. Hoping it gets rectified so we can enjoy the...

My dad and I ran this park when it first opened in kate 60tus. Smaller then it's gotten much larger as was discussed by Mr. Kennedy and my dad , Archie Stroman then . I only list6as a kid. But it all came true. The old house was ramshackle and broken down . But fixed up now . With pool and community center , pop would be amazed at how it all turned out. He worked at the park service for 20 years and loved it. Untill he retired and we moved to Florida where I live now. Enjoyed the visit tremendously and might make it back...

My sole purpose for coming to this park was to walk the AllTrails "Gentry Park Loop" - and I'm so glad I did! This is a really nice paved trail around a rec center, but it has a good "nature path" through a pawpaw grove (aka Hickory Woods) that was outstandingly beautiful today (10/31/24). This is also the home of the Payne-Gentry House, which I didn't know existed, so I'll have to come back to tour that! The playground was closed today for construction, but I imagine it's outstanding...
