Branneky True Value Hardware — Local services in Bridgeton

First off I want to say I have been coming to this hardware store for over 40 years. It has always been great to locate hard to find items for older homes and unusual items. I went in looking for some Christmas items. Upon doing so I noticed a lighted snowman on the top shelf. I reached up to view the one that was different behind it and BAMMM. Something struck me right upside the head EXTREMELY hard. It was some heavy cast iron piece with some rod or something. I'm not sure what it was. There was an employee right there stocking shelves as it happened and came over immediately. I reached up several times thinking it had drawn blood because it was a very heavy hit. As i'm trying to shake it off either a manager or owner walks up. I state "I wouldn't put that there again. That is really going to hurt someone" He states "Well it's been there two weeks and no-one else has had a problem with it" in a raised voice showing NO CONCERN for what had just happened or even asking me if I was OK. I then state "Well I wouldn't put it there" and he then repeats "Well it's been there two weeks and no-one else has had a problem with it". I then tell him "INSTEAD OF CRITICIZING ME YOU SHOULD BE APOLOGIZING TO ME! He then walks off mumbling and starts talking to an employee under his breath again showing absolutely NO CONCERN for what had just had happened to me. I then left and have a huge knot on the side of my head and ear with it being extremely sore and swollen as you can see from the photo provided. I've had a headache for two straight days and am considering going to the hospital to get it looked at. It is very upsetting to see that the management had NO CONCERN...

I went to Branneky because they had a push mower in stock (powered only by the person pushing). I purchased one for $130.,which to me is a MAJOR expense. The grass in my backyard was very, very high and it was important that it be cut soon. I arrived home, took the mower and gave it a try. It just rolled over the grass, which was way too high. So, I put it back in my car. It didn't cut anything, so there was nothing, not even a blade of grass, on the bllades. Clean as a pin, unused. I called the next day and the MANAGER answered the phone. I explained the situation and told him I would be returning it, unused. He said, "No, we can't take it back.". I said, I explained the situation to you." He, the MANAGER, said, "DO YOU THINK WE'RE GOING TO LET YOU RETURN IT BECAUSE YOUR GRASS IS TOO HIGH?" !!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I was not allowed to return it. It stands in a corner of my kitchen where it will remain until I put it on the curb for someone to take. I was charmed at first, when I saw the interior of the store. There's a very old dollhouse, and a replica of a Western Union stagecoach, which I fell in love with at first sight. I most definitely would have been coming back for things I would ordinarily go to Home Depot for. But after my experience with this MANAGER, and the total waste of $130., I wouldn't buy a matchstick from BRANNEKY. AND, my heart goes out to the people that...

I Love this neighborhood store! They have EVERYTHING! The staff knows where it is, too, when you come in looking for it! When you step inside it feels like a small town hardware store from another era... as well it should. They’ve been at this location for as long as I can remember - and I’m old! 😂 They’re down-to-earth awesome friendly and genuinely willing to help - in my case, the gentleman even went outside to my car and completed the task for me! With a friendly smile and an invitation to come back again! Doesn’t get any better than that!
