Beautiful view of coastal Maine! The Fort William Henry overlook is a great place to learn about the Siege of Pemaquid and its historical significance and connection to the English regaining control over the fort, after it having been captured. Great place to walk around! There are several plaques on the grounds explaining the significance of the fort and those who controlled it. This fort monument is entirely funded by donations. I’d recommend donating (you can donate in cash in the fort upon entry once you walk inside.) Information regarding prices will be listed depending on if you live out-of-state or not. There is much Parking availability...

The fort is really neat with a medieval tower recreated in the early twentieth century. The exhibits inside were interesting as well as the giant rock at the ground level and a beautiful view of the harbor at top. Please leave a donation in the donation box if your there, so future generations can see this. I also liked the original ruins just outside and the excavations happening. The fact that such a dramatic stone fortress was built in the Maine frontier in the 1690s tells you how historically important and strategic this area was in...

A nice stop if you're out for a drive. Interesting history of the 3 forts that stood here. From early settlers to French & Indian war time period thru to the early 1800s. Not always manned but if ranger or historical society member is there, they'll share the history and answer questions. You can go up in the turret and the view from the top is beautiful. Doesn't take long, great stop if you're on the way to the lighthouse or just looking to check out some history with...

We were within walking distance of this place and checked it out one evening (Thursday) Nothing open, couldn't get into the fort or the house. Online said temporarily closed, maybe since it was not peak season? We went back the following morning (a Friday) and looked like it was open? Very odd, seems to be a hit or miss for these forts! It was cool to see fort from outside and the cemetary though. Four stars for not having any consistency with when they are open.
