The Halloween thing they do is well done. Beyond that, what's the point. I don't know if the same people from like 15 years ago still run it. But if so, they have a history of "less than reputable" business practices throughout the neighborhood and associated events. If they're all gone, then they need to get the word out. It's a hell of a history, something to be proud of. Maybe tell people or show them. I know there's pictures, I've seen them. There's an entire generation that has no idea what "Iron Island" means. Put up a sign saying WHY the museum exists. Do you know how many people have asked me why Lovejoy has a museum, and why is it called "Iron Island"? Then, I tell them the story, and they're like, "Omg, I had no idea! That's awesome!” Iron Island just has a good ring to it, but if no one knows what it means, that can't spread the word. No one knows and the history place doesn't care, apparently. Put up a sign, maybe some place markers, something at all would be ..... Something. Gimme a half hour and I could increase traffic by %50 in the first 2 weeks. I grew up in Lovejoy and I'm a history dork. Leave a review message or something, I'll get back to you. For serious, I'm willing...
Read moreIf you're into ghosts, ghost hunting and the paranormal, Iron Island Museum MUST be on your bucket list to visit. The museum was a former church and funeral home and purportedly haunted. Although a humble museum in Buffalo, NY, it's world famous with visitors from all around the world. I presume it's popular mainly because the building is haunted. The museum has photos of famous paranormal celebrities that have visited it. Although there are ghost hunts during the evening, I went in the afternoon just to visit and look at the museum's artifacts. Marge was a very gracious host to us and showed us some very interesting artifacts and told us their stories. I found the tragic stories of Tommy and Richard, two children ghosts, quite sad. The hours of the museum are somewhat particular, but it's definitely worth adjusting your travel to the museum's schedule in my opinion, especially if you're seriously interested in ghosts and hauntings. The other paranormal spot not too far away from Iron Island Museum is the Rolling Hills Asylum in Bethany, NY. I highly recommend Iron Island Museum for those who are interested in ghost stories and...
Read moreOur visit to the Iron Island Museum this past weekend for a private paranormal investigation was an absolute blast! Our friendly and extremely knowledgeable host Lisa walked us through the entire property and shared many interesting stories and historical facts about the site.
Once our initial tour had concluded, Lisa was exceptionally generous with her vast array of paranormal investigation equipment, and was very helpful in pointing out the locations on the property where she had experienced activity in the past.
We spent several hours in every part of the property and had a great deal of success during our investigation. We were thrilled to experiment with some equipment that is not part of our collection, and some great tools we had never encountered before, including a motion sensing Dinosaur toy which was great fun.
Our time spent here was absolutely one of the best paranormal investigation experiences we've had and know we will return as...
