Locust Street Art — Attraction in Buffalo

It's hard to imagine a more affirming or heartwarming place the the Locust Street Art Center. Located in a beautiful old brick building on the East Side, the center has been offering free and low-cost art classes to people of all ages since 1959. The moment you step through the doors, you feel the love--every room is full of new works in progress, from ceramics, to painting, to photography. Everyone greets you with a smile and is eager to talk about their work. If you love art, consider taking a class--or joining in on one of their regular drawing/photography expeditions. They also host regular openings with displays of work by the students and member artists. Definitely a venture well...

We enjoyed the small class that we took, but found it off-putting that we had to clean up everyone's stations before we left. I would be understanding of this if we joined one of the free classes, but we paid for our session and normally studios wouldn't require us to do this. We were also told we would receive and email of when our art would be ready for pickup, but it's been over a month and we still haven't heard back. I LOVE THIS PLACE TAKES ME BACK TO MY CHILDHOOD DAYS!! I USED TO COME HERE AND MAKE LOTS OF ART IN THE CLAY AND POTTERY SECTION. A LOT OF MY COUSINS WOULD GET TOGETHER GO MAKE SOME ART THEN GO GET SOME PENNY CANDY AT THE STORE ON LOCUST AND CARLTON ON THE WAY HOME TO ORANGE STREET😊 BY THE WAY I STILL HAVE MY ART.
