I've been launching my kayak from this park for the past 5 years. The scenery along the Buffalo River is really great with the grain elevators, etc. But the park is not kayak friendly at all. The main gate is always locked and you have to go through the far right of the entrance and maneuver through big boulders to access the kayak launch. We take our sit-on kayaks out here and the ease of use is wonderful - there is a small trek from the unload spot to the actual launch (maybe 20 yards), but as you can see from the photos, the rollers make it pretty simple to launch and dock. THIS IS NOT FOR LARGER VESSELS - there is a place to rent kayaks nearby as well. You'll find port-a-potttys right outside of the boathouse and of course you can fish. Read moreThis is in my top 10 Kayak places. It is "urban kayaking". It's just really different. Less wildlife, more post-industrial waterfront. There's plenty of launches, but the Hamburg/Ohio Street park launch is a good start. No fee for launch or parking. Very busy, lots of kayaks. There's a bunch of rental places, too. Tall ships were here today. There's waterfront bars you could go to. Pretty cool. About two hours down to the lake and back. We finished up in the Old First Ward...
