South Run is your quintessential northern VA park, with a few wonderful extras thrown in. Baseball, softball, soccer fields, tennis, basketball courts, then a Rec center with a pool, indoor courts and rooms. But it also has an adventure center with a ropes course kind of thing and a field house. Not to mention the trails that radiate from it. Parking for the fields can get a little dicy during high use events, but just be patient and calm.

Great park, right outside of the South Run rec center. Has a little kid and big kid playground and plenty to run the kids out of gas for an hour or so! Be advised though, that big kid part is BIG! Easily 12+ feet, which is pretty awesome for climbing.

Nice park, always clean. Not usually crowded, but we are in the middle of a pandemic since I started using it so that may change. My youngest daughter was introduced to swinging here and it has become her favorite activity

The facilities are very dated and run down... the men's lockers room are nasty and none of the shower stalls have curtines, it seems incident, but it's all about cost savings I suppose, but I was not a big fan of it. I also had my kids here for swimming lessons and I honestly wasn't very impressed with the teachers. Specifically, I think there were too many kids allowed in the class and the teachers don't do a good job of equally dividing their time with the students.

Also, it is truly frustrating that during swimming lessons there are so many kids in the pool that all the kids are basically on top of each other and don't even have enough space to sufficiently learn how to swim. It is honestly a bit chaotic and not well organized. For a little bit more for the money, I'm only going to take my kids to the "kids first swim" place.

I do enjoy the walking trails and they are enjoyable. I have not tried the "go ape" activities, but honestly, I'm not going to put my life in the hands of the low cost bid contractor who...

The park is very well maintained and has lots of fields and trails. The trail behind the field house connects to Lake Mercer if you go left at the first fork, and Burke Lake park if you go right. Both parks are about 15 min. bike ride away. The playground is large with a side for little kids, there is even a sand play area. There is a giant hot tub in the pool area and a lot of lanes to swim in. A big dog park right under the high voltage power lines. The area used to be off limits and they would say that it was not safe that close to the high voltage power lines, but then they built a dog park right under the high voltage...

While this is posted as an indoor/outdoor rec park, and I mean I guess it technically is, I didn't find that they had a lot to offer my son (4) on the rainy day we were passing through. There is an awesome play area outside for kids 2-12 that is somewhat sheltered but definitely not water proof. Aside from that, the only other activity offered to out family was access to the pool. Mind you, we were on a road trip and just passing though so that was a bit of a disappointment. But for what it actually is, it was nice, and I would recommend to anyone passing by needing to stretch their legs or run out their...
