Great pool and hot tub, good sauna, good place for work out been going there for over 30 years however.... Health Warning ⚠️
I have suffered a long term injury at the incompetent hands of South run staff. A terrible nail fungus which big coincidence happened the exact same time I started using the rec center again last summer and their shower drains were backing up with sewage water for over 3 months before they fixed it.
My toenails were perfect beforehand never had any issues like this in my life but now my big toenails are falling off and discolored. I always wore flip flops and washed my feet last thinking I would be safe but boy was I wrong.
But of course to add insult to injury the pitiful excuse for a manager would not even say sorry or offer me any free visits. They want to deny any liability saying I can't prove it happened there and even if I did all users, use the facility at their own risk. I'm highly offended at the way fcpa has taken a hands off approach to my injuries which was caused by their negligence. They have no care and no honor. They just want to cover their butts from any liability or responsibility. They do not care about their patrons obviously, even though I've been a loyal customer and rec center user for decades... Been using this facility since they built it only to watch things go downhill as the years go on. Very sad they can't hire people who care.
I would not have complained about this or posted publicly as it is very embarrassing but I feel it is necessary to warn others of the way fcpa handles things when stuff goes wrong. 9 months later my big toenail still looks the same even though I've been using daily prescription medication. This isn't like athlete's foot where you can get an over-the-counter cream and it's gone in a day or two. This apparently is a long-term injury I have to suffer with at my own expense for daring to trust fcpa to keep their facilities clean and safe.
Other long-term longtime members warned me about the shower drains backing up but it was already too late I already had signs of nail fungus by that point. Rec center manager acknowledged it was a problem and hired plumbers to clean the drain only after 3 months. But of course they refused to make any concessions for my injuries. Shame on fcpa for not caring about the health and safety of of their members meanwhile they spend tens of thousands of dollars focusing on renaming Parks so a few people aren't offended. Guess what I'm offended I am forced to deal with this injury now. Their job and duty is to keep the facility's safe and clean for the entire community but instead they neglect their duties to pander to the emotional feelings of...
Read moreAquatic (Pool) Experience: Pee Wee swim lessons disorganized - no consistent instructor and no show one week. Suggested re-enrollment in same class by random instructor due to lack of progression in that class. Parents left just as confused as children with actual class objectives (half the time spent by instructor chasing a wandering child from another part of the pool). No operational oversight of how classes are being run from parent perspective. When I did finally comment - I was told I should’ve asked for my money back. We elected for open swim to teach our children to swim. I recently delivered our 3rd child and cannot go in pool for 6 weeks. We brought a neighborhood friend with us to go in pool with our child (who can’t swim) and were asked to leave and told “immediate” family are only allowed to work with children in the pool despite my disclosure of personal medical information. Very disappointed in a “community” center being so prohibitive during an open swim (in a nearly empty pool) yet more than uninvolved with their immediate staff/employees/swim instructors during...
Read moreMe, my daughter and my nephew were gonna go to the pool, but all the times we have went there for my daughter's class they would let us in. Then the "manager" was at the front desk and didn't let my nephew get in the pool. So when my daughters class was over my nephew got only his feet in the water for only 30 seconds. Then a life guard said he can't get in. So we decided to leave, she was waiting for us so the "manager" was laughing and saying "It's $6.50 just because my nephew put his feet in the water for 30 seconds. She also said she was the "manager." So that's why I give it 1 star! She revealed she was watching my Nephew the whole time while we were at the pool. She argued with me about paying. I told her "How am I gonna pay $6.50 for 30 seconds at the pool!" so she said "Yes, you have to pay" with a snarky smile on her face. We argued and then we left without paying because we were...
