I think the quality of this beach must either vary depending on which part you're talking about, or some reviewers are confusing it with another beach in Cabo Rojo. If anyone says the water is 'murky' or that the beach 'isn't well maintained' is in the wrong area or confused. The popular area is very clean and the water is as clear as glass.
There's a paid parking lot (totally worth it) but no restrooms or showers (maybe there were before Hurricane Maria because a lot of people mentioned them). On weekdays, you'll have to drive to a gas station or something for a restroom then drive back to the beach, but on weekends you can walk down the street to the concession stand area for Port-O-Pottys. (Walk because there's no space to park there since it's crowded and narrow. You'll never be able to back out of a parking space if you manage to get one.) The concession stand area is a must-see while you're there either way. It's so lively and colorful (on weekends).
The best thing about the beach is that there are no waves at all. You can stand in the water and have conversations with people. You can watch the fish swim around you undisturbed in the crystal clear water. The water feels like soft spring water, but if you get some in your mouth you'll see that it's...
Read moreThe park/ beach never disappoints. I always enjoy my time there. Its a large beautiful area with plenty of beach space. Local holidays can get very crowded. Regardless of season I recommend early arrival 9 to 9:30 am latest for your pick of spots. Price to enter park is $5.50 for the day. If you leave you can re-enter by showing receipt. Weekends are busy while school is out but after Aug 6th it slows some. There is limited food at one end of beach closest to entrance but I really didn't investigate, there are also kayak rentals and banana boat rides in that area as well I believe. Availability may be based on weather, weekend, season. I only go on weekdays and they were there but again this may change after school starts here. My disappointment is with the people that trash such a beautiful resource. Hurricane Maria's damage is quite evident but that can be repaired by the engaged people that care about this jewel. It also takes these caring people to speak up to those who are careless and just flat out ignorant about the damage they perpetrate on these beautiful beaches. There are more than enough trash barrels, they just...
Read moreEXPERT REVIEW: Great beach if you are in the Southwest area of the island. Plenty of parking and it is gated. The cost of entering the Balneario is $5.50. The parking lot is huge, towards the middle you can find showers and bathrooms, all functioning properly. The area has plenty of palm trees close to the beach which is fantastic. No food stands were noticed but maybe some are available on weekends. The sea is absolutely calm, pool-like without any seaweed and with small patches of coral and the contrast produces some incredible views. You can see small fishes and if you eat on the shore they will approach you looking for food or shade. The sand is clean, soft and white. There is a lifeguard post but it was unmanned. No umbrellas or chairs for rent were available, maybe on weekends so if you plan on visiting this beach on a weekday make sure to bring chairs and umbrellas. All things considered, this is one the best beaches in...
