I moved here during the height of COVID. Being a native San Diegan, I’d lived in the North County Coastal area of SD my entire life, never having lived more than 2-5 mins from the beach. I’d never lived in the East County, in a mobile home or anywhere south of Hwy 52 or further east than Carmel Valley. To say I was worried about how my life might change based upon the fact that mobile homes get such a bad reputation and I had heard negative stories about Lakeside growing up wouldn’t be an exaggeration. When I compared my options, all from afar as I was staying with my brother out of state when my family trust purchased this mobile home on my behalf, I chose to be here rather than various condos, all closer to SD. I’m truly delighted here. I’m in my mid-50s which makes me one of the younger residents here, but I have never felt anything but a welcoming attitude and true kindness from my neighbors. The biggest bonus would have to be all the amenities. How many communities have a craft room? And how many of those that have a craft room have a kiln to fire ceramics projects? We have a library here with lots of donated books, as well as a game room with lots of board games, puzzles, card tables and there are card games going on all the time. Every other week we have a Bingo night where non-residents are welcome. On other days there are people that get together to rock out with their musical instruments. We have 2 different kinds of water exercise classes, M-F, or if you want to exercise on your own, we have a little gym, or a dog park that’s attached to our own community park, with a beautiful gazebo and a place to practice your golf swing. We also have a great big meeting lodge hall type of place with a huge kitchen, stage, and I believe I saw a fireplace. There are ladies who get together and plan outings to interesting places around San Diego. I just want to convey that I was perhaps the biggest skeptic about moving here. But I’m completely happy here. The ONLY thing I would change is the rule regarding the size/weight limit for dogs. There are very large dogs that are not threatening and I don’t feel they should be prohibited from living in this community. I’m talking about dogs like Great Pyrenees, Old English Sheepdogs, Bernese Mountain Dogs, etc. I’m a cat owner. But I’d like to be the owner of a large...
