The Jackson Family House is a beautiful, well-preserved treasure in Gary, Indiana. It is so interesting to see such a small house that once housed such big talents. The Jackson Family House is a reminder that great things can come in small packages. The stories about the house that I have heard shared by the people in Gary, Indiana are also special. Some neighbors share memories of looking through the windows watching The Jacksons rehearse when they were children. The Jackson Family House is both nostalgic and relevant. I had a chance to visit Friday, August 29, 2025, to celebrate the birthday of Michael Jackson. The gathering was a refreshing, multicultural, multigenerational, global celebration to honor the memory of Michael Jackson. I visited The Jackson Family House to celebrate the memory of my mother because she enjoyed visiting the house when she was alive, and to celebrate the memory of my cousin who dressed like Michael Jackson and performed at talent shows throughout the city of Gary, Indiana. The gathering was an opportunity for Gary, Indiana to shine in a positive light. The Jackson Family House is a constant reminder that the brightest star in the entertainment industry who ever lived, once lived in Gary, Indiana. The Jackson Family House is also a reminder that big dreams often start with humble beginnings. If you visit the house around August 29th there is an annual celebration dedicated to the memory of the birthday of Michael Jackson. If you stop to visit any other time of year, the house can be viewed from the street. The house has evolved tremendously since the first time that I saw it as a child. August 29, 2025, precious memories were made at the Jackson Family House. Michael Jackson Tribute Artists and people from all around the globe permeated the site with proof that the gracious spirit of Michael Jackson still shines bright! This visit to the Jackson Family House reminded me of the day that Michael Jackson visited Gary, Indiana in 2003. Both visits allowed me to see the power of Michael Jackson to...
Read moreA place steeped in musical history and nostalgia. Jackson Family Street (formerly Jackson Street) in Gary, Indiana, is a must-see for any music fan, especially fans of the Jackson 5 and Michael Jackson. The street retains the authentic feel of the neighborhood where one of the most influential families in popular music grew up. Although the area has changed over the years, walking down this street is like taking a trip back in time and connecting with the origins of musical legends. It's exciting to think that the Jackson brothers walked these same streets as children, perhaps dreaming of the fame that awaited them. The neighborhood has a special energy that any music lover can feel. I highly recommend visiting it if you're in Gary, especially if you combine it with other Jackson-related sites in the area. A little piece of American musical history...
Read moreMy best friend and I were on a road trip. Since we were traveling through Indiana she said we should stop to see the Jackson Family home. So glad we did. It's not a traditional museum. You simply visit the house, which has been preserved by being gated on all sides. No tickets or anything. It rests in the neighborhood among real people that live there every day. The visit will be quick since it's just the exterior to view from outside the gate. As you can see from the photos many people put locks on the gate and write notes to leave marking their presence and love for MJ and his family. We all miss Michael and his music and for the rest for the day during our drive to Chicago we played only Jackson music. Put us in such a great...
