I've lived in Gary most of my life and we appreciate 🥰 all the visitors and love that you share for our SON, however the "I was afraid I'd be shot " comment & all the comments are: how shabby our town is are totally uncalled for. Regardless of the criticism & unsafe feelings some of u have shared our city once was poppin', people from Chicago came to Gary to party. Unfortunately, Gary has seen some unfortunate times in the last few years but, with the good Lords help our new Mayor, Eddie Melton, ( gave up being a Senator to be his home town's savior) will bring the much needed life...

Stopped here while on a roadtrip to Minnesota. There isn’t much around here to see or do, so it’s a quick 5 minute stop.

The house now has a fence around it which was not there when Michael Jackson and family were living there.

This seemed to be a very poor area and this is probably the nicest house in the area. Most of the stores in the area were closed and boarded up or damaged.

There is no entering the house, so it’s just a quick drive by/photo op.

If you are traveling through or nearby, I guess to say “you’ve been there” it’s worth a stop or if you are a die hard...

Like many others, we made the trip to the Jackson Family home to honor and pay our respects to the family. We were the only ones present at the time of our visit so that definitely made for a more personal experience. The site is as pictured and as others have mentioned, it is sad to see what has become of the surrounding area. We were respectful of those that live in the area and of the property itself and it appeared that others had also been respectful as evidenced by the tributes left that did not appear to deface or damage the property. We were...

Visited MJ family house on our trip to Chicago, not much to see around this area it’s just sad to see all theses abandoned broken down buildings everywhere but, it was cool to see the birthplace of MJ were everything started. The house from outside seems very well preserved and taken care of, no one was there when we got there so it’s was easy to take some pictures and observe it.

This whole town seems eerily quiet and desolate. Several decrepit buildings line the streets in various state of disrepair. Almost to the point of a "ghost town." One building that seems to have been able to remain fairly stable is the Jackson home. Not a lot of room for parking, although I was the only one on the street as I took pictures, I still had a difficult time.
