A gorgeous outlook on a vibrant and dynamic stretch of central coast beach. I was just there during the King tides, and WOW, the waves were exploding against the shoreline rocks, fantastic! There is a small cove, very small, just to the lower left as you pull into the parking area. In low tide, it's pleasant and charming. During the King tides, it was under about 15 feet of water! On the right, furthest back, there is another beach access, stairs going down. And there is a public restroom set back from the lot. If you've just come from the North along Hwy. 1, you might be very happy to know that's there. It was open even now, during a fairly comprehensive covid shut down period. Read moreNice little soft gravel beach at the creek that is excellent for swimming. The gravel is soft as sand and keeps the water a little clearer too. It gets deep fast, so you just have to get past the baby breakers to have a nice float. I did a little fun body surfing even. Stick to the open water between the rocks and kelp beds. I swam it June midsummer on a warm but not hot day. Be careful if you are not used to cold water! Always swim before noon as the tide comes in in California. Short swims and warm up on the sand between swims. I had a lovely sunbathe and left before the usual afternoon winds and tourist crowds kicked in. Had the whole beach to myself for almost two hours on a Tuesday. Absolute heaven if you love the cold California...
Read moreA really nice place to stop and enjoy the California coast. There is a good parking area here along with picnic tables and bathrooms. Trails head off both to the north and south. You can walk across the bridge to get to Moonstone Beach and a couple of restaurants. You can walk down a small hill and get to a beach and the ocean.
