STAY AWAY!!!!!

Here are our concerns:

We arrived at noon hasving been promised "full Access" to the community room. The community room cleanliness was unacceptable . The staff was unprepared for our arrival and quickly wiped off table tops and swept the floor and that was it. The bar area was covered with paperwork and clutter which we had to clear off and clean before it was useable. Other than the tables which the staff had wiped off, everything was covered in dust. Fortunately we had moms with "diaper" wipes which we used to clean with . Broken dirty windows , unmatched cracked and scuffed tables and unprofessional hand written signs on ripped out notebook paper on items declaring "do not touch" were so embarrassing! Nothing like the picture in VRBO. We had a few table coverings with us which we were able to cut and cover the worst tables.

It was a hot summer afternoon and with no A/C there was only one (very dirty) fan available to cool off the room. In order to keep any air flow both door were wide open and the fly infestation was horrendous. The window sills were full of cobwebs and dead flies and the fly strips, covered with dead flies, hanging in the kitchen area were upsetting. Dirty used dish cloths were left in the kitchen and there were no dish towels, paper towels cleaning supplies or extra garbage bags available and no staff anywhere that ever came by to see if we needed anything or left information about who to contact after hours for help.......

We were provided ONE key per room. That meant that somebody from each room had to make sure to have the room key each & every time the room was stepped out of. When 14 rooms are in use, inevitably somebody locked themselves out of the room.. We were all family and at first thought we could just loop the key lanyard around the door handles until we realized we did not have exclusive use of the area and there was no staff or security to assure us of exclusive use. It was not until Sat. at 11 PM when we had to contact you for access to a locked room that an off-site emergency number was shared with us.

AND.........We did not have exclusive use of the area! There were "others" who apparently had also been told they would have access to the pool, community room and bonfire pit. They wandered in and out of our event in the community room all evening , raided our items in the kitchen and partied at the fire pit right outside our rooms until 3AM. Also, we were constantly being interrupted by strangers who were driving by, coming into the Community room looking for information, bathrooms, and drinks.

If you want to run a Lodge/ resorts you should seriously consider an office/ front desk that is well staffed 24/7 , well marked and not in the room you rent out for private events. There was nothing private or exclusive about our stay.

Additional issues: televisions not working , disappointed by the advertised "petting" zoo and horseback riding. An inaccessible barnyard with chickens, pigs and a goat is not a "petting" zoo, and we never did find the horseback riding ....... Although we did find the sign for it in an old wheelbarrow. Fortunately we did not plan on a Bar B Q as the Grill area that was promised would be a perfect setting for a band and BBQ , was also a dilapidated mess. Again, totally unlike the pictures on VRBO....

Don't give them your money! Ok. First of all, the new owners are complete cowards that try to hide their mistakes. I was part of a 10-family reservation for this August 2017. We have visited the resort 2 previous times with the previous owners and had a wonderful experience in both instances. We were super excited about our upcoming trip when two months before our scheduled (and 1/2 paid for) trip, we get a call that our reservation is being cancelled because they double booked our weekend. Ok, we all make mistakes. The problem and tragedy occurs when someone makes a mistake and doesn't have the common decency, business ethic or moral to admit the mistake and work to make up for it. We were told that the weekend rate is now significantly increased under the new ownership and I feel 100% confident that we were bumped because another group was charged more and the greed of money was more important than honoring a reservation that was made and partially paid for 10 months prior. So we repeatedly requested to speak with the new owners and they have refused to contact us and instead have forced a gal who I assume to be office staff (Elizabeth) to talk to us and try to smooth things over. Problem is, Elizabeth can't make things right. She is not the owner and although she tried, she was put in an awful situation, again, by the owners who should have been courageous enough to handle it personally. So wee turned to facebook and wrote reviews regarding how we were treated on the Stagecoach stop page. What did the new owners do? Remove the reviews option from the page and block us from posting comments on the wall. Again, cowards who hide. Just know, these are the people you are handing your hard earned money if you go to this resort. They have no respect or decency to own up to a mistake they made and truly work to make it right. Might want to have a back up plan in case they find someone willing to pay more for your weekend because you'll be out of luck just as the 10 families like us are. The new owners should truly be ashamed of the way this was handled or rather,...

I have made several attempts to speak with the owners of this bussiness in an attempt to get some sort of answers as to why they cancelled reservations I made for 10 families almost 10 months ago? Our reservations were starting Aug 11th and they waited till Mid June to contact me to cancel! Was told they double booked, however I made reservations in Sept of 2016 and they did not buy the company till November, therefore my reservation should be honored as it was made long before they owned the bussiness. However I was informed they now charge much more than what we booked for, so Im pretty sure thats why we got bumped! They have showed no compassion or remorse in ruining our trip, even made a pronise to refund our $1000 deposit on an certain date and didn't follow through on that promise either! They offered no compensation for our loss and have even removed my review from their Facebook page. I have given them every opportunity to try and make this right in some way but have been blatantly disrespected! Please consider who you are handing your money to if you ever think to visit the Cowboy Creek Lodge, I urge you to take your bussiness elsewhere! I know I will never be back! Its too bad, these new owners have no values to do...

Went for the haunted house and haunted train car. It was very nice. We got there around 7 and we were the first ones in line for both. They wait till it gets dark to let people through. There was food to buy and nice bathrooms to use. Handicapped accessible with dips and bumps on the grounds. Neither haunted train car or walk is handicapped accessible with a wheelchair. The train car is a ramp up and down into the car. Easily accessible for walking and the ground is level. From 1-10 with 10 bring the scariest I’d give the train car a 4. It took us about 15 min to get through. The haunted house was more exciting. It was longer. Took us about 25 min to get through. On my scare scale I’d give it a 5. I was frustrated with the maze and the strobe light. I literally couldn’t see anything with the smoke and couldn’t find our way out. It was fun though. There were different rooms with different set ups. I would suggest doing early if you don’t like lines. We walked around afterwards and looked in the different windows of the buildings. Wouldn’t suggest under 7 to go into. My kids were 13-17 and they loved it.

Really fun place! We go every year. The "museum" wad cool with lots of cool things to see. The Haunted forest was a walk with some great jump scares. The 3-D effects this year were super fun! The maze was also long, which was totally worth it. The last attraction we did (we didn't do the drive through one this year) was the walk through Haunted house was the BEST! The music was awesome and on point, and added to the scary atmosphere. Highly recommend!

The folks here were Super Friendly, the Sheriff's deputy showed us how to shake the pan to find gold, the did a western skit, they also were doing like shoot out for us and some more people. My son and I had to go, he couldn't handle the gun fight. Loved the display. It's not exactly like it was in 1979 when I and my Family came but, it was nice they had alot of similarities. I want to come back for the Halloween haunting.
