Adding an update:
The Cameron Park library has since gone through some renovations, and has installed a door opener button on its entrance/exit, making it more accessible.
They've also installed a drinking fountain, and sealed off the kids section so kids can't escape to the front door easily and the sound can be blocked off to the rest of the library if a children's program is running.
The library is now fine free for overdue books 🎉 (thank you for eliminating the ADHD tax!)
I still have issues where I return books, and get notifications that I have not returned books, only to find them on library shelves later (this happened to me probably 5 different times last year).
Still very happy to have this library in our community, and grateful for the resources it provides.
Original review below:
Sufficient parking. Some spots to charge an electric vehicle. Wheelchair accessible parking and ramp. No automatic door opener, but friendly people will help you open the door if needed. After hours book drop right outside the main entrance, with another book drop inside by the librarian's desk. Restrooms to the side as you enter. Kids books and small play area on one side of the library; adult and teen section on the other. A room or two you can reserve for a meeting. A few computers you can use. There are also homeschool materials, book group kits, and dementia support kits that you may check out by filling out a form at the front desk. The librarians are great; I've appreciated their help on multiple occasions. I think one is a registered proctor for tests. They have some library activities for multiple age groups, which are best noted by looking up their calendar online or grabbing a printed calendar at the library. It's important to note that the times the library opens and closes varies by day (Mon/ Wed/ Fri days are different than Tues/Thurs). It is a smaller library and the El Dorado library system is not as extensive as a larger city, but for a library this size, it is fantastic and the librarians wonderful. It's a wonderful resource to this community, and I've had a lot of positive experiences here. Note to El Dorado: it would be helpful if you added an option to pay fines online. Also, the system for renewing books might need to be reviewed. I've had more than one experience where I've renewed library books, and the system says I successfully renewed the library books, only to receive an email a day or two later that they're overdue, and I'm...
Read moreThis library is fine when there are no kids. The kids are so loud it feels more like a jungle gym. I come to get hw done before picking my kids up from school and this library has kids hanging out in the bathrooms and being so loud in the sections no one can read or get anything done. I'm not sure why they get to just hang around and be loud it's...
