LONG POST ALERT BUT WORTH THE READ On 5/24/2023 we had a little outting to celebrate cousin Tasha Ball bday. We went to the SPA at gervasi for a tour of the wine tasting which was absolutely wonderful. We learned a lot about wine and the preservation of it. The hostess were all really nice and fun. Afterwards we went to The crush house where we all shared in appetizers and a meal. When I say the food was excellent HOWEVER‼️‼️‼️ WHEN I say the waitress was beyond rude nasty and showed she had a problem with people of color, from the time we walked in we were trying to get a picture of the bday girl and she rudely walked up behind us and RUDELY was like excuse me. You could hear the irritation in her voice. So we all moved to the side to let her by.... No biggie right? WRONG ‼️ well guess who our waitress was yup you guessed it lil Ms rudeness Ms. Bailey😤 we get seated we all order our drinks and appetizers which she had a problem with how the items were being split up lol. So I ordered 2 different drinks one was a wine the other was a slushie drink. Well let's just say my drinks came maybe 10 minutes after everyone else's and no straw nothing, she says we ran out😤 Why?, I havent the slightest even after telling her I wanted them when I ordered them not with my meal😡. Now it's time to order our entree we get the food I ask for some salt and pepper needless to say she never got it for me. Someone else at the table had to go get some off another table. There was a white couple sitting by us and she walked away from us over to them and this Chick had the nerves to frown her face up. I can't make this up good thing someone else saw her do it too. After the meal she asked did we want a dessert and we replied no. Why this girl say GOOD and walked away back over to the white couple. At this point I'm livid bc when I say I have never experienced such behavior from an establishment such as this. I was expecting really good service and she left a bad taste. My bill came to $59.50 and because of her horrible service her bad attitude and her racist like actions I left her a tip with what I felt she was worth and I left it for her boss to see it. Please zoom in on my note because Ms hostess Bailey if you don't like people of color you need employed elsewhere bc our money spend just as good as those who look like you Gervasi Vineyard The Crush House at...
Read moreI've gone to the Crush House numerous times over the years since it has opened. It has typically been a good experience. The food seemed fairly priced and the menu was very diverse. My personal favorite was the Spicy Beef Short rib and the Wings.
However, post COVID seems to paint a very different picture or at least some point in the past 2-3 years. The menu has been drastically reduced and all of what I thought were the "exceptional" items have been removed. You're now met with a small list of entrees and some very off putting appetizers (in my opinion). I ended up getting a grilled chicken wrap though it wouldn't typically be my first choice. It was honestly pretty good but I don't know that I'd get it again as it's really not the type of food I expected. Service is fairly decent as well. Staff is very nice and knowledgeable...not much more to say there.
I will say the thing that sent me over the edge though was the "Credit processing fee" that they charge you for using a credit card. I find this to be completely unacceptable. Accepting cards is a price of doing business and I actively avoid any business that puts this off on their customers. Gervasi is clearly doing well for themselves but feels the need to charge me the 2.5%? That's just wrong and really kicks dirt in the face of the customer. Honestly it's quite greedy. This place isn't overpriced but it's absolutely not cheap either.
Overall the food is fine but it has clearly gone down hill over the past few years. Maybe you'll have a different experience based on your tastes but between the "lesser" menu and charging fees for credit cards I will be taking my business elsewhere.
Edit: I corrected the fee amount as i wrote the wrong one. However I think that credit fees are a cost of doing business and with the way that society has shifted to credit cards it's still insulting to charge that fee. I'm not sure where Gervasi has seen these fees being charged but its few and...
Read moreIf you like waiting 2+ hours to be seated, this is your place! But seriously, we got here at 2:30pm on a Saturday and were told there were 12 parties ahead of us. We had 8 people and decided to stick it out. I'll be forthright in saying we did not use the call ahead seating that they offer (tried making reservations 2 weeks prior but they don't take them), but we decided to wait. We figured maybe an hour wait, tops. In the meantime, we sat at the bar and did a few wine tastings. The bartender was the only positive part of the experience; he was great. By the time we finished our tastings, we had waited about an hour. We decided to give it a little more time because everyone who was waiting around us had been seated so we figured we'd be seated soon. Nope. More than another hour waiting and by this time it's nearing dinner time and we'd have a wait anywhere else we'd go for our party size. We inquired with the hostesses multiple times and were told different things as to why we were waiting so long. One told us they were going to seat us at a table where the people were done eating and had gotten their checks but apparently needed another hour to chit chat and take up space in a place that was obviously busy with others waiting. Another told us they were waiting on a server to get there which is why we weren't seated at the 8 person table that was available for more than an hour. After 2+ hours of watching people who got there after us with similar size or larger parties get seated before us, we left. This was the worst experience I've had at a restaurant. It's obvious that The Crush House is poorly managed. Do yourself a favor and spend your money elsewhere. Oh yeah, forgot to mention that this was supposed to be a celebration for my dad's...
