The staff at Philips Farm is incredibly welcoming and knowledgeable. They greeted me with warm smiles and were more than happy to share their expertise about the farm's operations, crops, and sustainable practices. Their passion for organic farming was evident in every conversation we had, and their dedication to providing fresh, locally sourced produce was truly inspiring.
Speaking of produce, the farm's selection of fruits and vegetables is unparalleled. Read moreBeautiful day! It's a great place for young kids. It's nice to have them outdoors doing activities vs inside. All of the staff is extremely amazing, helpful and kind. The cost is quite steep especially when it's charged for both the children and adults and all activities included are only for kids. As a single parent of special needs child whom doesn't receive any Child Support from ex Husband & and chosen "absent parent," spending $40 to take 1 young child is a significant cost. The significant fee's Phillips Farm earns from the vendors like Food Trucks and lower cost investment they have to put into the types of activities they offer as well as the prices for thier own items does give them the ability to at the very least, charge the adults 1/2 the price of admission to watch there kids engage in the mostly employee unsupervised activities. With exception of a slide, ride in back of pickup truck and 1 pulled "cow train," there's nothing else that requires staffing to man associated activities either. There is man giving mini Pumpkin out. It'd be nice to see some times that they offer people in need or children with disabilities the opportunity to participate despite not being fortunate enough to have the luxury of 2 person income or not having to incur such extensive financial burden due to children's disabilities etc. I did directly reach out to them in advance and inquired but I never received a response at all. That was admittedly bothersome. Having said that, you'll easily spend $100+ to walk outside watching your own kids for a few hours during day and getting a couple $5+ small bottles of water & small snack i.e. $14 dollar funnel cake or 1 $10 Candy apple pr Caramel Apple. I highly recommend attending for ALL families w/young kids that are easily able to pay $100-$200 for a few hrs outside with your kids in middle of Sat or Sun. I'm sure that it's more of the norm than not for most parents to spend couple hundred everytime they want to supervise their kids so they enjoy wholesome fun outdoors for a few hours whenever wanting to reduce screen time each day/week? If it's 2 parents & 2 kids's cost should be doubled. So for all whom can afford it, this is a great way to do that. There's a corn maze. As well as a Sunflower patch where you can bring your own supply's to cut & pay for any sunflowers you want to buy. Candy Canon is done 2× day with...
Read moreNot worth $20 per ticket now. We read the reviews before we came and were hesitant until we saw the owners response that they had added new items. We thought maybe for the price they were charging they had added the value since the last time we visited. We were super disappointed to find that some of those new items cost additional money, so the value is not really justified. I saw where the big slide allows one ride down but after getting in and watching the disappointment on my kids and others faces it was extremely sad to be told it costs $2 per ride after the first, and kids can’t use their parents ticket to ride. They should really reconsider this rule and allow for multiple rides for a $20 ticket. This was probably the most fun activity for my pre teen kid who really didn’t enjoy much else, so other than playing with the sports activity where they throw balls into a target arcade style he didn’t have a great time.
The cow ride and grain train go in a circle around the same small grass area and leaves a lot to desired. Other new items cost money to do so it doesn’t count as a bonus for this year. Really small children may get more enjoyment as they have some new sensory activities, but even those don’t bring that kind of value.
This farm is more like a $12 ticket farm with so many additional costs for some activities. I would have been much more inclined to have paid $1 for my kids to do the apple sling or launch a few times.
Overall, I wouldn’t recommend this for families and would recommend a different fall event instead to get the most value for your money.
Edited to add* We visited Naylor Farms in Fuquay and they provide enough value for a $20 a piece ticket so it makes me even more bitter that we wasted $80 at Phillips Farm. Highly recommend visiting...
