I arrived at the course early to practice. The Proshop people were very nice. I bought some Golf Shoes and enjoyed some practice on the tiny practice areas. Very Tiny. It was also very crowded on a weekday. Got to the tee and the Starter was very nice and gave us some tips. The course itself is very narrow and very short but somehow I played the enire round with one ball. My issue is there were workers on the course who seemed to be on every hole. These guys were not only running the machines full throttle but also yelling at each other over the top of the sounds. I can see it happening on one hole but on several holes was just too much. Let me just say I have been a greens keeper in my day so I appreciate their hard work. So on number 10 tee after spending another 50.00 on snacks There they were again this time not more than 20 yards off the teebox. Swearing up a storm using line trimmers and leaf blowers. There were maybe 6-7 guys. I waited hoping for jus a few second of semi peace but NO they began calling each other MFers and such. I went to my second shot they moved toward the green with us. I could not take it any longer and called the pro-shop. They asked my cart number and name. I was expecting a visit and an apology. I could NOT have been more wrong what I got was a full dressing down in front of my playing partners 2 of which I did not even know. It was ALL MY FAULT for not understanding that on a golf course work has to be done and if workers throttled back their machines for each golfer that comes by they would never get anything done. This guy was actually angry with me! I was speechless. Needless to say it ruined my round. The guy did circle back and offer a halfassed apology by saying the workers were done for the day. Ultimately the course was WAY TOO packed and way too rude. Plus its too short. My costs including the shoes were around 375 for myself and girlfriend so it kinda sucked. I will also add that I waited for over a week to cool down before writing...
Read moreBeware the slimy, bate and switch tactics when trying to use the Players Pass!!! We made a tee time 3 days ago for 6:03 a.m. on Tuesday (not a particularly busy day). The terms of the Players Pass was two for one at the "rack rate". The rack rate is some mysterious rate that no one really knows what it is and is different from the posted rate on the website or Golfnow. So when we booked the tee time we told them at least twice we were using the Pass and asked what the "rack rate" was. $60 was the answer. When we checked in to pay, "Michael" was bound and determined not to honor the Players Pass. Excuses? That is only valid after 11 a.m. and $60 is not the "rack rate". OK, now I am pissed. I told him the time to tell us the Pass wasn't good for a.m. tee times would have been when we made the tee time....not when we show up to play! Same for the rack rate....they need to honor what they told us on the phone. He dug is heels in so I picked up my phone and called Dove Valley right in front of him.....made a tee time for 6:15 a.m. He wanted to know what we were paying....now my radar is on full tilt! What possible difference could it make what we were paying at DVR if he was "just following the rules"???? I told him I was member so wasn't paying anything and my guest was paying $35. He says, OK I'll charge $35!!! LMAO! No way would I give this cheat $1 of my money let alone $35 and I told him as much. So we had an enjoyable round at Dove Valley which is a better course anyway. As a year round resident, I used to like playing Rancho from time to time but I will never darken their doors again. My advice to you? Stay away and don't give a cheating, greedy company your...
Read moreWe had a chance to tee it up Wednesday morning and first time here. Beautiful golf course and facilities. Very lush throughout and the only fault is that the greens were quite slow. Everything was on point until we had to endure a 10 minute speech from the starter, Butch. He was adamant that "the back tees are only recommended for low handicaps" and he was again seeming pretty judgemental on two guys he didn't know play to a 2 handicap each. Also mentioned that the pace of play is expected less than 4 hours. We teed off and were on our way, playing at even par on a new course. The Rangers were constantly on our case, even though we were clipping along and ended up finishing the round in 4:02. Had a second run-in with Butch after the 9th hole and he felt it necessary to leave his post on the first hole and tell us how slow we are yet again. 3/4 members in our group had to use the restroom and we weren't given any time at all to purchase anything to eat or drink. We were constantly reminded that 'over 200 people are depending on you to play fast today' and we offered to let any group skip ahead if they felt it necessary. There was one good Ranger who commended us on picking up our pace on the front mine and he said there was no need to let anyone play through. Our group was also hit into multiple times throughout the round when we weren't out of range of the group behind. All and all, beautiful track with fantastic views and layout. Due to the nature of the attitude of the staff, I would recommend spending your money...
