In the Cedar Valley, there are so many great parks to get out and enjoy the outdoors. This weekend, explore Prairie Lakes Parks that has trails and two lakes. There is so much to do - from walking, running, or bike riding to fishing and kayaking. It’s a great spot to enjoy nature! Check it out today and it’s anither great reason to #lovethecedarvalley #midwest #cedarfalls #iowa #cedarvalley #midwestlife #whattodothissummer2023 #whattodothisweekend #waterloo #waterlooiowa #nature #park #parks #fyp

Great suburban park on the South side of Cedar Falls near the industrial park with paved trails looping around the bigger of the two Prairie Lakes, and along two sides of the smaller lake. Many benches along the paved trails provide opportunity to take a break from walking, running, riding, skiing etc, or just to watch the nature and enjoy the peaceful lakes. Many fishermen utilize both lakes to cast their lines in the warmer months and ice fishing in the winter. Kayakers can often be seen on the larger lake as well. Four workout stations dot the perimeter of the larger lake along the paved trails to offer opportunities to do some body weight exercises. Sign boards are posted to help provide ideas for exercises. There is a dock on each end of the larger lake, and the Southern one has a nearby covered picnic shelter with a paved offshoot from the main paved trails for easy access (by foot or bike, the parking lot is on the other side of the lake). The paved trails also connect to the rest of the greater Cedar Valley paved trails system for easy access.

I don’t like how hilly it is and it could be bigger so you could get more miles in when you walk/run around it one time instead of having to walk/run around it 3 times to get like a 5k in. Other than that it’s a very pretty place with great sunsets and sunrises over the water. Very well maintained. I wish the bathrooms were actually flushable toilets instead of porter potties.

Decent little park. Grass is kept mowed to a good level. Fishing is okay, you can catch bass and panfish, but nothing big. Ample parking, some benches, a shelter, two docks for kayaks or canoes, and pit toilets. The toilets aren't well maintained, but they're better than nothing. Decent bike/jogging trail, with a little bike maintenance post where there are some general tools anyone can use if they need a quick fix. There are a lot of geese, and they poop everywhere like geese do. No swimming, although the water probably wouldn't be great for it anyways, there are a lot of weeds in the water. Good place to go if you want to use some kind of wake-less boat, and catch some small fish, or go for a jog/bike ride. Not what I would consider a picnic type...

The park is a good place to go for many different reasons. You can go there to exercise, run or just walk the trails. It's nice place to have a picnic either by throwing a blanket on the ground by the lake or use the shelter. I shouldn't say this but it is actually a pretty good place to fish. but you got to be smarter than fish. I always enjoying myself at Prairie Lakes Park. Give the air conditioner a break and get some fresh air...
