I usually love this theatre! It really benefits the community and makes it possible for me to see a movie with my family, even though I’m a single mom who can’t afford much. They also have a quiet room, which is great for my baby and I. However, yesterday I went to see Elf for free there and my experience was not so great. We were having a great time in the beginning. The workers at the concession stand were so kind and patient with my family. There were a ton of kids laughing and enjoying the experience. I had to go up to the cry room and to the back with my baby and walk around, and I then heard this volunteer from the ticket booth being so crotchety and rude to all the children that were going to use the restroom. Mind you, these are not my kids, but I understand that children need to get up and use the bathroom more. Yes, they got up a lot, but this was a free kids movie and kids have small bladders! She tried to be rude to me about bringing my son, which makes no sense, as it was a free children’s movie and they have a cry room for that very reason. It was so unnecessary and makes me not want to return with any children. She should not be in a position to be interacting with the public. And if she is, please be careful about letting your children use the restroom alone. She likely won’t be nearly as rude to your children if you...
Read moreI've been going to the Kent theater since I was 5 years old. Although much hasn't changed since then I would say that it is a nice piece of history that is part of the town. I would love to see money from the city being poured into this place so that they can update it a little like comfortable seats or maybe a better roof. The people there are always very kind and I think the place deserves a lot more love and money from the community.
For non-locals, if you're expecting a place like celebration cinema this is not the place for you. This is a country town theater that the money you spend will go to the building. They don't charge high prices and I think...
Read moreFor the price (truth be told: free event), not terrible. Pretty run-down place, like an off-campus frat house with a really big TV and good-enough sound system. Bad ambient light control (you could tell, while watching the movie, that some opened the entry door). Concession service was less a "customer service" and more like a "sentenced to serve" operation. In their defense, they were serving a group that wasn't paying their own way, so motivation may have been limited. The staff wasn't surly or obscene by any means, just seemingly disconnected from their duties. I'll go again, for...
