Okay, so here is the deal. I know how to cook a steak. Not just cook it, but make it really good. I pride myself on being good at cooking steaks. Most of the time, when I go to a "steakhouse" or any place that markets itself as "upscale", the steaks are juicy, but lack flavor. Or they are heavily seasoned, but dryer than my writing of this review. Prairie Creek Vineyard & Winery knows house to let the flavor of the steak speak loud and proud, and not overcook it so it stays nice and juicy. I want to make one thing clear, too. I'm not referring to the top dollar steak. I'm not referring to the chef's reserve stock. I'm talking about a sirloin. Let's be honest, a sirloin is not the steak you make for your future in laws at your first meeting. A sirloin is a steak for the common man, when you want a cut of beef. They made that sirloin sing like Oliver Twist Broadway production on opening night. Perfect back up came in the form of mash potatoes that, while creamy did not lose their substance. I felt them in my mouth and could appreciate their texture and flavor, before they waved goodbye to my tongue as lovers parting on the dock before setting sail. The green beans, the gangsters they are, were served under the steak, where they plundered the fleeing juices, and masqueraded as steak-infused vegetables while they awaited their destination.
In summary, I liked it. Best steak at an establishment of this caliber I have had, and I have been to a few. I recommend it.

Ā Ā Ā Read moreThe atmosphere of this winery is pristine, and the wines are delicious. Whenever I am in the area again this is a definite stop.
Update: My wife and I stopped in again recently, and were excited to try some new food and drinks. They still have a diverse selection of wines, as well as a couple craft beers on tap. The last time we came in, we really enjoyed the food. The food is still amazing!
My wife ordered the Salmon, which came with asparagus and a rice/quinoa medley. The salmon was excellent, and the sides were seasoned and cooked perfectly. She also got a side salad, which typically is not the exciting part of the meal. There was a lot of thought put into the salad and I ended up eating half of it myself!
I ordered a sirloin steak, which was topped with a herb butter, and came with asparagus and mashed potatoes. I ordered my steak medium, and it was done perfectly. The butter was a very nice touch, something I haven't had before. The sides were also very good too. The only thing I felt was missing was a piece of bread to sponge up all the remaining meat juices and taters.
We also ordered an appetizer called 'Lavish'. It was a thin crust sort of pizza thing, with grilled chicken, artichokes, havarti cheese, and herbs. I could have just eaten that and been happy.
This winery/restaurant is so amazing, and I wish I could come more often. The attention to detail to the food and wine, and quality of service is...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreOn Wednesday August 23rd we were at prairie creek winery to pick up our wine club purchase and enjoy a meal. There were 6 of us, 3 couples and we had reservations. We were seated immediately but that is where the good service ended. We waited patiently for wait staff to arrive to take our orders. It was about 30 minutes before we received our complimentary glass of wine and the hors devours. After that is was about another half hour before our food orders were taken. By the time our food was brought to our table, it was almost 8pm. Almost 2 hours from the time we were seated. I did call the hostess to our table and expressed my displeasure with the service and was treated to a multitude of excuses. She said I needed to speak with our waitress but she was not readily available. I asked to speak with Nick and was told he was not on site. When our waitress finally came back she apologized and also offered a number of excuses. We have been wine club members for most of it's existence and have always enjoyed the entire PCW experience. After the experience we had last night, we will not be eager to...
