Fun trail through the woods where you can walk or go biking. It's kind of hidden in plain sight. It pretty well hidden and I didn't know anything about it until I started bicycling a lot more and that's when I found out about this bike/walking trail. It's a pretty fun trail, twisting and turning, with paved and unpaved areas, and going next to a nice stream at points. Crosses some neighborhoods and at one point you have to cross Stringfellow Road to continue on trail (that is one thing I don't like). Started from Monument and Rt 28, and I biked up to Ellanor Lawrence Park, saw the park maintenance house and headed back. There are some places where water crosses the trail. Luckily, the water levels were exceedingly low so my bike didn't get too wet and dirty. All in all, I...
Read moreVery nice to walk through. This is a photo from just a couple days before writing this, and in that time the paths have been paved over, which is nice to walk/jog on and probably might even be nice to longboard on on a breezy day. People are friendly enough to smile and say hello to in passing. Plenty of points to stop and relax on a bench or just by a creek side and listen to the water. Very pleasant and good for your health/mood. Also nice bit of wildlife: I've passed deer on several occasions, just walking by. Fish and tadpoles in the water, especially if you venture off trail a bit. I remember seeing beavers and their dams once or twice. Overall, it's a very pleasant...
Read moreA great place to take a nice walk. It can be a bit hard to find the location if you are not familiar with this trail. My favorite way of accessing is through the entrances on Middle Ridge Dr., between Mt. Royal Ln and the Greenbriar Pool Club. There are numerous entrances between houses along the trail. The stream itself is quite nice, as well. While most of the stream is not accessible, there are a spot that is easily accessible, and it is shallow and wide at the area. While I do not necessarily recommend swimming here due to its close proximity to many urban areas, it is a nice place to take photos. Most (if not all) of the...
