Mississippi Point Park — Attraction in Champlin

I've been coming to the Mississippi Point Park for years and most recently on 3/8/2020 and thoroughly enjoy the tall old trees and river view.

The reason for four stars instead of five is because another bench or two along the riverbank wouldn't hurt and because in my honest opinion unless there was some kind of tree disease a lot of trees are no longer standing from what I remember that in the Fall with the leaves changing was golden and in summer was verdant green that now looks barren. I believe that removing the undergrowth and some of the smaller, dead trees would've sufficed just fine to keep the area relatively fire safe.

However; having said all that I look forward to coming back because watching the sunrise here is a sight to behold especially...

They're changing things again. Don't try to drive in the way you have for years the road is closed. You have to go down to the lights by Chandler Park and turn on West River Rd. They put a small drive to turn in by where the upper parking lot was where the Carnival used to set up. It's a nice park it sit and watch the river. Fish or Launch a boat. Nice park for fall pictures and/or picnics during spring and summer. I mainly go here for fishing. Or I use to. They haven’t stocked the ponds for years. A lot of illegal fishing here as well which isn’t enforced. And with those illegal fishing comes a lot of trash left behind. I live near here and this place use to be my area to relax. Not so...
