We spent a beautiful spring day out enjoying the weather at this hidden gem of a park. It feels like you're driving to private property until you reach the park's parking lot A short hike takes you to the confluence of the Rum and Mississippi rivers. Given the very harsh winter, it was no surprise that the park was flooded in places but that didn't prevent our enjoyment. There is a beautiful shelter area with a drinking fountain,, plenty of spots to fish, tall, sturdy trees from which to hang hammocks, a wide open field for playing sports or relaxing in the sun, and a great playground for the kids to play on. It's on the smaller side but the available amenities definitely make up for that. The one downside was the lack of garbage cans but I think that had more to do with the timing given that it was only mid April and the park was still so...
Read moreBeautiful Park to visit in the warmer months. Great for fishing off shore or on the floating docks. I come here daily to walk my dog. I began feeding the birds regularly & now I have duck, geese & even the squirrels following me around the park. Recently, I fed a friendly fox here as well. Lots of wild life...Beaver, river rats, Groundhog, even Raccoon late evening. It states online that this park is "closed" in the colder months. Evidently so...when it snows, the trails aren't plowed, nor is the parking lot. In the Fall, the floating docks are taken out & the Port-a-potty is hauled away. Public restrooms are locked. The Police patrol the lot quite often, possibly because a few people tend to "park" in the lot without getting out of their cars which is the only reason for not giving 5...
Read moreThis was a great location for our company picnic. Plenty of room for games, interior space for serving food and areas of shade to eat. Took a quick walk around the area and the river was full of ducks. It is neat to see a place where the Rum River and the Might Mississippi merge together. Both rivers looked extremely low but there were plenty of people fishing. The one couple I spoke to were trying for carp. I see this location being great for that. If you're into history there are plenty of plaques explaining the area's history. If you're in the Anoka area make this a spot for a quick picnic or a walk in...
