It is rare in today's world to find a contractor that exceeds customer expectations, delivers a high quality product and has excellent people. This describes Aloha Pools. My wife and I interviewed three pool companies when we decided to install a gunite pool in our backyard. One supplier was at our house for about 45 minutes, made some cursory suggestions for pool placement and their proposal had "ranges" in cost. In other words, the pool would cost within a range of variance of $75k depending on "what they found" when they excavated. The other supplier was not really listening to our vision and was basically non-responsive after submitting a proposal.
Along came Brian from Aloha. He spent over two hours in our backyard, taking measurements and elevations and he understood what we wanted to accomplish with the pool. Brian developed a draft of a design which made the pool feel a part of our backyard. Megan suggested we do a soil analysis to insure we did not run into an unexpected expense when they started with the excavation. All of our conversations were focused on our needs and there was not any pressure to move forward.
We met with Brian and the team at the Aloha offices and they showed us the final design with a line item cost for each component of the project. Brian's design was something we had not considered but it was the absolute best place for the pool. Brian is an experienced, creative designer. He assured us there would not be any "surprises" once the project was approved. Aloha's contract was very straightforward without a lot of legal language.
Once the excavation started we were introduced to Jordan the site manager. Jordan was excellent! He answered all of our on-going questions and kept us informed each step of the project. Jordan was aware our HOA is a bit of a challenge with parked cars etc and he insured all the contractors were aware of the guidelines. Jordan takes great pride in his work and he was on site to make sure all the technical aspects of the project were done with the goal of delivering a quality product. Jordan is a valuable employee for Aloha.
Aloha's sub contractors were fantastic. They were hard workers and took a lot of pride in their phase of the project. The subs were respectful and they spoke highly of Aloha which is a testament to how Aloha treats their workers. We would often thank them at the end of the day for their work and the common response was " thank you for giving us the work."
Aloha's customer responsiveness is outstanding. At the onset of the project all emails, texts etc. were promptly returned. We had a question during one phase of the project when Jordan was not available and within a hour of texting Jordan, Pete their General Manager was in our backyard addressing our concern. Pete even came to our house on a Saturday to deliver chemicals for the pool. Pete has a great deal of experience in pool construction and during our interactions with him he took the time to explain the various components of the pool.
Our family is extremely pleased with the final product. We quickly found out that installing a gunite pool is a major undertaking with multiple phases and a lot of upheaval in the backyard. Jordan kept reassuring us it would look great after completion and he was absolutely right.
We feel blessed we found Aloha and we would highly recommend them if you are considering a pool. Thank you Aloha! We are happy to be a part of the Aloha...
Read moreWe are SO GLAD we went with Aloha for our pool (gunite, rectangular with baja shelf, 4 led lights, and a bubbler). After meeting with a few other companies for quotes, my wife and I met Brian from Aloha and were immediately impressed by how much extra time and attention he spent on us and our design. He sat us down to go through his plan and quote in greater detail than any other company. He took so much time to educate us on why our vision should be executed a certain way to prevent problems arising in the future. No other company did that, they just looked around and said they could build us a pool for $X.
Brian pointed out our yard had a grade that presented unique issues that would have to be accounted for if we didn't want our pool to fill with storm water whenever it rained. His quote included a necessary retaining wall and drainage plans that will prevent anything from flowing into our pool. When we talked to the other companies about it, they hemmed and hawed and said "Well yeah that's what we probably would have ended up doing too..." after sheepishly admitting they would then increase the total cost of the project. Brian's quote accounted for everything from the start so we were well educated and well prepared.
During the construction phase, the Aloha team FLEW. I guess maybe we had good weather conditions over the winter to execute our build quickly and efficiently. The project supervisor, Jordan, was outstanding with his communication and addressing whatever small errors presented themselves during the build before I even could recognize them (there will ALWAYS be issues with any large complex construction project, what matters is how they are handled). I believe Aloha only accepts a few projects at a time, which makes a huge difference. Friends of ours who went with lower priced or larger national companies all reported poor communication, constant construction delays, and poor quality upon finishing. With Aloha, it was nothing but smooth sailing during the entire project.
Looking at the final product, we could not be more pleased with the realization of our vision. All of the work done by the subs is incredible - You can tell they have been working with the same companies for many years through countless projects. They've got the process dialed in. Trust me, when you're spending $150k+ on a home improvement project, you want things to go as smoothly and predictably as possible. Aloha accomplishes this and keeps you at ease throughout the whole thing. What we received is exactly what was designed, no changes were needed, and even though it's only been a few months, everything has held up perfectly. We absolutely LOVE our pool. It's the best decision we've made so far. The second best is...
Read moreAloha Pools became family. The team was exceptional. I know that sounds lame but it's true. Putting in a custom in-ground concrete pool is no small thing. If you do it, you gotta feel your decision is protected by folks who you believe will execute the plan in a timely and agreed upon financial cost. Aloha delivered on both fronts.
We interviewed several pool companies during this big financial and lifestyle decision. We met with two companies more than once. Aloha stood out by a mile. I couldn't even contact all the references provided. Besides enjoying the people I met at Aloha, I spoke to at least 5 families who used them for their new pool design and install; they unequivocally raved about the design (Brian); the project management (Jordan); and the fella who put the bow on at the end (Prescott).
So we chose Aloha and were not disappointed. Whether it was insane heavy winter rains or the NC red clay, we knew whenever we called, texted, or basically gave the bat signal, the crew was responding. Every. Single. Time. I distinctly remember the stone mason (critical of his own work) redoing a section on a shivering January day because he wanted it to be perfect. (I already thought it looked great.) I sorta wish Aloha did home renovations as well... they were that thorough, reliable, and detail attentive.
I'd write 10 five star reviews for them if I could. You won't be sorry you chose Aloha for your new pool but your neighbors who chose a competitor just might be.
Worth the price. Thanks...
