
On Friday March 16, 2018 I drove from Columbia,SC to JCSU to me my classmate Calvin Lewers. First we shared a 50 year hug. Thatās how long it been since we graduated in 1968 that Iād seen Calvin. Then we were bedside of the Reverend Dr. Raymond Worsley age 90. Rev was my closest mentor at JCSU and heād married Calvin and Vera. We went on to break bread, reminisce and talk about our up and coming Class Reunion activities. Calvin drove me in a tour of Charlotte and JCSUs campus. May 18-20, 2018 will be JCSUs 150th Anniversary. As the Golden Reunion Class weāre pert of the celebration. With gold caps and gowns, in rows weāll march behind the graduating seniors, wow what an honor.

We loved the intimate size of the school, the friendly students who said hello along the way, and the family feel between staff. I appreciate a professor from New Sciences taking a few moments to offer some advice about taking courses that allow students to have options. The students were most impressed because of the very friendly atmosphere from the staff member who gave them the tour. I am a retired educator and it was great for them to share the experience that I had during my tenure at Smith. I make at least four donations a year and now will attempt to do more.
