American Legion Post 313 — Attraction in Chelmsford

We find it very interesting reading all the praises and positive comments that others have posted. We wished that was our experience, however our reality was very different. We are the type of people that praise when excellence unfolds and we give credit where credit is due. When we first enter the doors of this hall, we were greeted very nicely and Al went above and beyond in making sure that we were convinced to rent the hall. Sadly, the minute we paid our full fee, we noticed that Al and his bartender (the young female lady with long brownish hair) demeanor changed up until the end of our interactions. The day of our special event, we personally felt pressured to on every level. We received many complaints from our guests where the bar tender was absent from time to time, she refused to provide certain drinks and dismissed our guests. At one point during our party, the pressure became so intense that we almost walked out the door prior to our event ending. On that day we were competing with an event - open mic event which we were not aware of or brought to our attention before we reserved our event. Trust us that if we had known about this event, there is no way we would have reserved this hall. We felt rushed out of the hall. But what personally bothered us the most was the treatment we received the day after our event when we went back to get our deposit back. The look on Al's face when he saw us enter the room felt as if "if looks could kill, we would have been crushed". He was a different Al that we had med at the beginning. He did not make eye contact with us even though we said hello first. We were asked not by Al but by another bar tender to come back to get our deposit because we did not have our contract. The following day, we went back with our contract and once again, Al was very dismissive towards us and pretended we were not there. Instead of greeting us and saying anything to us, instead he looked to the bar tender at the moment and another gentlemen there and explained to them what needed to be done for us to get our deposit back. He never once said hello or took knowledge that we were there even though we said hello first as we entered the room (downstairs) and we did not do anything wrong or had not wrong doing whatsoever. It felt very humiliating and as if he was pleasant at the beginning but then once he got what he wanted he wanted to do with us. No people skills and it was hard for us to understand where his madness came from. I guess we will never know because he never took the time to talk to us. It makes us sad that this Quinceanera took a year to plan and we were excited to be here but the way we were treated makes us feel that never again would go back for another event. Our family recently rented this place for a family reunion. The day I looked at it, it seemed nice - your everyday, run of the mill, hall. The day of our event we arrived. Upon entering the hall it reeked of stale cigarette smoke. We started to put table covers on only to find that many of the tables had not been cleaned from the event the night before. They had dried food on them and the round tables had some sort of sticky residue on them. We found a bottle of cleaner and had to clean the tables before using them. The ceramic floor, when walked on, your feet would stick to it. The rug looked like it had never been vacuumed. I was very disappointed with this rental. Given the cost of it, we should of had a much better experience. I would not recommend this venue at all. I spoke with the manager of the legion but all he could offer were excuses and a lame apology. Not very happy at all. We will seek another venue for...

My husband and I had our baby shower here last year. We loved the venue it had what was needed. Space, enough tables and chairs, beautiful lighting, a bar, bartender and a nice view. The price was also reasonable. The bartender arrived on time and did her job. We all had a good time. You and your guests cannot bring drinks in the venue, they have to purchase drinks from the cash bar. They are hard on you leaving the time you paid for so beware of the time you have to get out by during your event. But other than that we were happy with how our event turned out! Thank you...
