This rock-solid store has fostered an entire mall of shops including a bakery, prepared foods store (soups, kimchi and condiments etc), dumpling shop, bubble tea shop, drug store, numerous non-food stores selling things like stationary and furniture, and of course the More Food Court. Next door, accessible by the same parking lot, is a strip of restaurants and cafes.
Obviously, not everything is at the same level of quality. The food you get at one of the restaurants is going to be better than what you get at the food court (with many exceptions, I'm sure). And prices have gone up, although they're still not bad -- especially compared to what you'd pay for the same groceries at a US chain like Giant. But the magic of this place is the variety. There are multiple places to get things like bubble tea and baked sweets. The restaurants both have extensive menus and the quality is reliable. And HMart is there for the home cook, with everything you need and usually a little more (I tend to get carried away there). Just today I was able to buy Sichuan peppercorns, star anise, rice wine, tofu sheets, and crown daisy greens for hot pot! These places are more together than the sum of their parts. The complex really feels like a community space, where people can gather, socialize, and eat (or buy ingredients for) real East Asian-style food, from sushi to jigae.
This is a special place. I'm...
Read moreI have always loved to shop at HMart, a place that I can experience a sense of home. After today, I will never return to this HMart again and will bring my business elsewhere. This is because I was treated very rudely by an employee at this store. Her name is Jun H. Lee at the Cashier check out. First, she attempted to shove two big bags of ramen, one big bottle of sauce, and two big bags of snacks into one plastic bag. I asked her for another bag so that it won't rip. She threw a second bag at me and looked away. Then she screamed at me to sign for my credit card. Her line was slow. The person after me was my friend. There was not a rush for Ms. Lee to be screaming. When my friend started to check out, she started to double bag her stuff. She even talked with her with a smile as you can hear her smiled underneath her mask. And continued to smile and said thank you to my friend. My friend was not Asian. I do not understand why she chose to treat me was such disrespect and lack of customer care attitude, and a completely opposite attitude with another person after me. This is absolutely unacceptable and unprofessional. I would like my feedback to be kept public and reviewed by the store so the management team can improve customer service quality for Ms. Jun H. Lee and to maintain the high level of professionalism...
Read moreA supermarket best known for Asian-American foods, but caters to a diverse number of people who love Asian foods. H-Mart has a great selection of specialty vegetables, fresh produce, Angus beef rolls, and a vast variety of frozen foods – ranging from appetizers – to quick easy to cook entree meals.
I am very impressed by the wide variety of fresh fish that are available on a daily basis, and all of H-Mart fish is super fresh, and also cleaned and gutted to each patron preference. My wife and I both enjoy the extensive variety of natural herbal teas, many of these teas are very hard to find, especially if a patron is seeking for ways to live a healthy life.
I also purchase special natural base tooth brushes and tooth paste, and the prices for these items are reasonable in price compared to other super markets and retail outlets.
Pros: Friendly and courteous staff, always great service, and fast checkout especially since there are a limited number of checkout centers, but each center is always open for expedient checkout service.
Cons: Parking lot heavily congested due high volume of business, especially...
