No matter what your taste – as far as Asian food is concerned, Sangkee Asian Kitchen has it covered. The restaurant offers a variety of what I like to call soul food down home Asian dishes. Each meal is prepared as if it were made from your own home. I love the delicate spices and seasonings that are used to enhance each dish.
What sets this restaurant apart from the pack – is their original and authentic recipes – which equal to a win win scenario for in-hose dinning. I also love the fact that their menu lunch specials combination rest on a variety of authentic Chinese appetizers and light-hearted entrees. My favorite suggestions are; Beef/ or Chicken w Eggplant in Garlic Sauce, and their mouth watering Sautéed Flounder Fillet with Ginger and Scallion. The special add-ons – if desired are reasonably priced.
Sangkee also boast a variety of appetizer starters to hold you over while waiting for the main course. My family favorites are the samplers; even though I was hesitant at first to try these treats, I have also found them to be one of my favorite side dishes.
If you love big noodle bowls – be prepared to be wowed by their delicious flavor and variety of the Sangkee apps selection. Roast Duck has always been one of my favorite Asian meats, and I give Sangkee a five star rating for their Peking duck, it is a must for those who appreciate the time it takes to prepare and cook this delicacy.
Pros: Super comfortable dining room, cozy atmosphere, dishes are served on large plates and big bowls. BYOB is a great addition for a comfortable night out, or just to have fun with friends and family while enjoying a casual conversation. Piped-in music adds to the dining experience. Bathrooms super clean. Accommodations and service is...
Read moreThe most paradoxical Chinese take-out I've ever had. Entrees may have fresh ingredients and decent protein, but any dish you order will be woefully incomplete and unsatisfying. The major, unforgivable problem with this business is that it is blatantly stingy, cheap and overpriced and their "different" take on typical Chinese food in terms of portion size, condiments, lack of sauce, etc. are not disclosed on the menu. I opened my $22.75 Walnut Shrimp and I see just fried jumbo shrimp, with plain undercooked brocolli, a small rice and no sauce! Although it was a good size portion of shrimp itself, the entree was a size appropriate for one person--barely. A sweet mayo on the shrimp and broccoli--what?. Too much brocolli, and literally only four walnuts inside. Very much not what one would expect given the high price. And curiously, the restaurant has the ambiance and furnishings of a high-end restaurant. Also, I got a smoothie, which was a little watery. A head...
Read moreWhere to begin .... Service was courteous, welcoming, efficient, and perfectly timed delivery of every course. Appetizers/Starters - hard to go wrong. Best Scallion pancakes (aka Chinese pizza) around. Shrimp rolls - no filler, all shrimp --- INSANE!! Fried wontons/dumplings were gone before waiter left the table. Entrees were great, we ordered a couple of things and everyone shared a bit, except for those of us wise enough to order the BIG BOWL NOODLE SOUPS! Chopped Duck (or pork, or seafood) wonton noodle soup is nothing short of fantastic - stock/broth is just rich and flavorful, the added chopped [protein of choice] is just right, and the bowl is a meal unto itself. We have been to another location of theirs for sunday Dim Dum (DimSunday) and all I can say is - GO! Disclosure: Long time favorite we discovered downtown years ago, happy to see them closer!! Chinese new year -- 9th &...
