Came here today for a miniature meetup with my group as this was the location that they had voted for, for this month's meetup.
The main floor is nice, however the space where tabletop gaming is on the upper floor is another question. Very dirty, so dirty that I found dead roaches in their bathrooms. Needless to say after seeing problems that would make a health inspector cringe I probably will not be back. That upper floor made me feel like I needed a shower.
The Staff member I interacted with didn't really give me accurate information as when I got in he asked what I was gaming today (Larger Gentleman with a backwards baseball cap and glasses) and when I had mentioned I was there for miniatures he mentioned that there was a Warhammer tournament that was happening and that he wasn't sure there would be gaming space for us. Later I returned after others from my group came and messaged me and another that they did in fact have gaming tables for us and that the event was at a different location, which was not mentioned originally. One of the others in our group later after interacting with him mentioned it felt like he didn't really know or care when asked a question about something.
Based on the interactions and the poor condition of the upper floor (Pictures posted of the roaches I found in the restrooms on the upper floor) I will more than...
Read morerecently my boyfriend and i visited Motor City Gaming for the first time after they had relocated. we’ve been to every card game, gaming and hobby store in the metro detroit area. that being said, we had only recently heard of this place and absolutely had to check it out. i am SO happy that we did.
when we walked in, i immediately noticed how spacious the shop is. i didn’t feel claustrophobic in there at all, which is a huge plus for me, as i find that some of the card shops we visit are incredibly cramped. there are many tables set up for the various tabletop card gaming and tabletop wargaming events they hold regularly. they also have two computers that patrons can use to search for specific cards they’re looking for. this was a super useful idea that i haven’t seen implemented at other card shops that we’ve been to.
they sell magic the gathering, pokemon, yugioh, lorcana, star wars unlimited, and more. plus card game accessories like sleeves, deck boxes, play mats and dice.
the man (forgive me, i forgot his name, he has a beard) who spoke to us, was SO incredibly friendly and knowledgable. i am new to playing magic and he made me feel very comfortable to ask questions; no judgement, just very happy to help.
i would HIGHLY recommend visiting Motor...
Read moreGreat place! I went in looking for Pokemon cards since I just started collecting. Unfortunately they didn't have any packs in stock, but the man I spoke to (Shawn) was extremely friendly and helpful with all of my questions. He even offered up teaching me to play Magic, which I will take him up on in the near future!
I definitely recommend coming here if you're looking for a place to meet like-minded people, new to cards, or you want to hook up with others to play...
