My family and I have wanted to go to Cheyenne Frontier Days for so long, hearing nothing but great things about it from co workers to mediaβ¦.. so, we decided to go yesterday. We expected our whole experience to be wonderfulβ¦β¦ it really wasnβt. It all started with the parking: $25 for parking in a half flooded area that didnβt look like a parking lot at all, it looked like some old abandoned mowed down field. Then, there was buying the tickets: $40 each for an arm band for the midway, the price was the same for kids admission as it was for the adult admission. If you wanted to buy extra tickets, they were $1 each, with most of the rides being 5 tickets per ride, which means $5 for 5 tickets to ride just one ride, $10/ 2 rides, ect. The food and drinks were impossibly expensive! I looked at getting my son an ice cream cone, they were $7 each, so I decided not to even bother trying to get one for him, when I can get him a dish of Dipβn Dots at Lakeside Amusement Park in Edgewater, CO for $4. I also wanted to add that the guy who was operating the Kamikaze ride was shutting down the ride 15 minutes before midnight when all the other rides were still running. He yelled at my husband, my son and a bunch of other people in line wanting one last ride before the whole event closed for the night, he was very rude to everyone, telling the people in line to go away, that he was done operating the ride while chaining up the entrance and pushing people awayβ¦β¦there is absolutely no need for that kind of behavior from anyone! Whoever that guy is, he shouldnβt be working as a ride operator if he doesnβt want to do his job, so he decides he wants to shut his ride down and skip out early!?β¦..doesnβt matter if he knows he will never see the same people again, no one should treat anyone the way he didβ¦.. most definitely uncalled for and unprofessional!! And at the end of the night, while getting out of the venue, the people who were in charge of ushering vehicles out had no sense of direction. The flow was poor. They didnβt know what they were really doing with the stopping and going of all the vehicles. They were letting cars go when the traffic light was red and stopping cars when the light was greenβ¦β¦ backwards thinking on their part. Road construction crews do a much better job at keeping the flow of traffic going smoothly than these guys did. I feel like my family was lucky enough to get out and down the street safely without getting into a fender bender. My husband I have come to the conclusion that this whole event wasnβt planned out very well at all and that they hire cheap labor to operate rides, games, ect. On a positive note, I did feel safe knowing there was security there and they were the only people who seemed to know what they were doing. I saw some riff raff being hauled out buy security guards a couple different times last night. And lastly, with the exception of trying to ride that one last ride for the night, my son enjoyed himself on every ride he went on. I will say that Cheyenne Frontier Days is a once in a lifetime experience but itβs not for everyone. Iβm glad my family and I experienced it, but we will not be...
Β Β Β Read moreFor the last 20 years I had the most wonderful experiences at Frontier days. I was shocked by my experience at 2017 Frontier days. I was in remission after chemo and radiation six months earlier. I started to feel I'll while attending a night time concert. After a stop at the rest room I headed for my vehicle to sit down in air conditioning hoping I would feel better. As I passed by the main ticket booth I started feeling a little light headed. I saw a gentleman in a golf cart texting on his phone while talking to a young female. I asked for help to get to my car explaining I didn't feel well. I was shocked when he didn't even look up and said "I'm not disabled transportation" and said "No" he would not help me. He drove off and left the girl sitting there. Right after he drove off another cart with two younger boys pulled up and stopped for the girl, at which time I asked them for help, and as if emboldened by the first gentleman the girl hopped on the back and said "nope we're going the other direction." I could not believe what I was hearing. I was in distress and was refused help. Not once, but twice. The feeling of helplessness and their total disregard for my safety was frightening. All I could think of was I was going to pass out in the dark parking lot and somebody was going to run over me or worse. Luckily, I was able to make it to my car which wasn't far. I wrote a letter to the main office and didn't hear a word back from them. I guess their sponsors don't mean...
