Goodman Farm Supply — Attraction in China Grove

We’ve been going here to pick up chicken feed for our flock. We enjoy supporting small business and we enjoy our small sustainable living. We’re experienced chicken owners as we both have been raising chickens from incubator to laying. We decided to buy 6 chicks yesterday to add to our variety. 3 arctic blue, 3 black star. Brought them home, put them under the heat lamp, ensuring they were comfortable and cared for. This morning one acted lethargic and sickly. We separated and it passed quickly. We called simply to ask is there a replacement policy as we knew our children would be devastated coming home from school… We were told no, but we figured as much. We said okay may we purchase a single chick of the same variety to replace the one. We were told no, our children needed to get used to animals dying, and as a matter of fact he would never sell us chicks again. My husband just said okay thank you and hung up the phone. I’m actually shocked but more than anything completely disappointed in how the owner handled the whole situation. We are non confrontational people, and at no point were we rude or heated on the phone. Based on this interaction, I will not be returning my business there. We order chicken they wrote a recipe hatching date was 3-29-2023 you picked up on 3-31-2023 I picked them up 4-1-2023 had them in room 90degree like they told me Saturday Sunday Monday night I check on them they was all over the place happy eating and drinking cold water from 10pmto 5am I went check on them they was all died I called them Tuesday 4-4-2023 he wouldn't order more replacement them or my money back he may alot of excess how high u had heat lamp I say about 3 from the floor he told 1 foot then asked what I'm feeding them I told u get me a bag he gave me 50 lbs bag nutrena 18 percent them he went talking about the light I told him not my first I brought some tractor supply year year o done same thing I still have 8 laying hens never buy anything from him he was rude I went there 4-1 he say did I call u I say no the receipt pick up 3 31 he I didn't call u then asked me what my name I told he say I didn't see ur name I said ...

I'm gonna start this by saying that this is the only bad experience I've ever had here, but it was enough for me. I walk in with my son, my mom and grandma who are in town visiting. The older man with the beard and glasses was there as I asked him for duck food. I have lived in this state, in the country for years and years. This man talked to me like I was an idiot. I told him I wanted turkeys cuz they're mean and he began to tell me with the most condescending attitude that I must have had an experience with wild turkeys. My dude I have hunted wild turkeys and been around domestic turkeys, they're both mean as hell. Do not talk to me like I'm stupid. He then comes out to our car to help with the duck food (I'm little but I can lift 50lbs) however, I appreciated it.
