Great for Rollerblades/Inline skating. Agree with all the good reviews, it is simply an amazing experience. It was on the cover of a Northeast trail publication.
I have a few hundred skate miles on this trail, it greatly improved my mental and physical health. From the Pearl St Lot (elev 32') , pass the roaring rapids, pass under Rt 9 and the Thruway, you travel about a mile to the Normanskill Bridge. This is a Pratt Truss Bridge Style Designed by an RPI Engineer!
Then continue about 1.5 miles to the edge Delmar, with an exit about a block from Delaware Plaza. This is about 200' of rise. A bit of extra effort skating.
The trail is quite flat for the next 3 miles or so. Good to add some extra miles after a long skate!
Then there is a mild grade from Upper Font Grove, which can present a bit of a challenge if you try to build some speed, thru the Bender Melon Farm, under the Bender Bridge, pass The Hilton Barn, cross rt 155, for about about 150' of gain, highest point by the Vly Creek boardwalk bridge at about 350'. The trail ends a tad bit lower in Voorheesville, exactly 9 miles from Pearl St!

Read moreWe enjoyed this trail a lot going away from the city. Beautiful, peaceful, not crowded, lots of treea, nice waterfall area, wildflowers, few homes on the first 2.5 miles. However, going toward the city, horrible, one star. Also the electric bikes were bad. They were way too fast, you get no workout whatsoever, didn't have the option to turn off the electric and actually pedal, couldn't control the speed and go slower. We rented then returned then fairly quickly. We finally decided on a walk / run away from the city and the was really nice. As my husband said, we felt like we made lemonade out of lemons after a very bad start. If we just include the running away from the city, I would say 4 stars. There is some unpleasant industrial at the beginning even of...
Read moreWhile there is no broken glass and the trail is wide and accessible this is no trail for bike riding. Coming out of the Grove St. Parking area in Voorheesville there is about 200 feet of promising pave bike route. This ends quickly as it transitions into a mix of large and small gravel jarring even the most comfortably appointed bike seat. And it goes on and on like that for miles. Hey there are some sweet things about this area: its quite, shaded, broad and straight, but it isnt suited well for biking, skip it and wait until its paved...they say by 2018, but I...
