The hiking of Fishkill and Scofield Ridges are among the best in the entire Hudson Valley, and this is by far the best trailhead to start/end with. However, parking is apparently now prohibited anywhere near this trailhead...epic fail for the City of Beacon. I guess you would either have to walk up from Main st (seriously Beacon?) or take a taxi. The Mount Beacon trailhead is a ways down the road on 9D, but the route I go has nothing to do with that Mt. Beacon route (Casino Trail). I would even happily pay a fee to park at this trailhead, but nope, Beacon decided otherwise. Read morewe didn't hike the entire trail - but chose to go up until the path meets mt. beacon monument road... if you take a right, you can walk up to the reservoir and sit by (or swim in) the water. and then head back down. it was short and a really beautiful way to spend 1-2 hours.
fyi, i see some recent comments regarding parking...while its true, you can't part on the exact road that the trail starts from (pocket rd) - we were able to park on e. main and it only added about 5-10 extra minutes....
