Sonnenberg Park — Attraction in City of Canandaigua

Wow! What an incredible estate! Built in the late 1800's. A magnificent mansion on 50 acres with gardens and hardscapes galore. From the Pansy and White and Blue Gardens to the centerpiece "Italian Garden" the grounds while not in their peak are amazing all the same. The cost of keeping this expansive estate at "peak" I am sure is prohibitive so I am not knocking the present condition in any way. A group of passionate volunteers and and others put their heart into the place and it shows! The quarter sawn oak appointments inside the mansion are awesome. The circa 1900's greenhouses take you back in time and allow you to see them in their glory. The Rock Garden and archway are a nice natural surprise to the mostly formal estate. Definitely going back...$15 for and adult is well worth it and hoping that most of that finds its way to preserving this...

It was a great time and neat to check out the mansion and the grounds. Really appreciate all the hard work of the volunteers and staff they do a really good job.
