My wife and I visited the cemetery today, June 7, and it is an absolute discrace! I have my parents, grandparents, aunts, uncles cousins interned at Holy Sepulchre. The majority of whom were baptized, received holy communion, confirmed, married and buried through Blessed Sacrament parish. The parish and whoever is responsible for maintenance of the property should be fired.
The grounds are unkempt: grass is uncut, weeds are a foot high around grave stones (some even obscured). Weeds are prolific on the grave beds...uncontrolled growth! There are vines growing around grave stones, clearly not attended to for some time. Holy Sepluchre has always been maintained to a extraordinary standard; if Father McLaughlin, Blessed Sacraments pastor in 1886, cemetery founder, is buried there he is no doubt “turning over in his grave.”
The condition of the cemetery should be an absolute embarrassment not only to the parish, but also to Rev. Fr. William Luciano, BS’s pastor.
What more can I say, as a catholic with the majority of my family interred at Holy Sepluchre...I am disappointed in the church and embarrassed that the maintenance of these blessed, hollowed grounds have been so neglected.
